Pancake clouds is one kind of clouds that looks like a pancake, generally in a flat elongated shape stretching parallel to the mountain range.

Pancake Clouds also commonly called ufo clouds or lentikuler clouds. While in Java, pancake clouds called "Caping Gunung" because it is shaped like a hat typical Javanese farmers called "Caping" and be above of the mountain. Usually, the colors of clouds pancake is white, but some are reddish blue because of sunlight

Descriptive

Pancake clouds occur when the wind blows over the mountains and moist air pushing up on the height of the cooler, where water vapor condenses. Pancake clouds not move like other clouds because trapped in pockets of relatively calm air just below the wind and the flow just above the warmer air below. A Pancake cloud actually is formed on one end (front end) and disappeared on the other hand.

Sometimes pancake clouds look layered because the air flowing over the mountain getting pushed up higher as it goes up and over the top. The moisture content and initial temperature are just right so that the moisture condenses from a vapor to small particles at the higher altitude. When the moving air moves past the peak and comes down again, the particles evaporate back to vapor.
