Panama, also called the Republic of Panama,
is the southernmost country of Central
America. Its official language is Spanish,
and there is 340 thousand people living in
Panama until 2008.
National birdThe national bird of Panama is Condor, they are the heaviest eagle in the world. These kind of
eagle has a several straight further on their head.Sometimes, big Condor can’t breed so fast, they
might breed after 3~4 years.
On 16th century, Panama became the colony of
Spanish. On 1821, Panama join the Gran Colombia. On
1830, Panama became a province in Colombia. On 19th century, a French named Ferdinand de
Lesseps decided to build a canal. But US president wanted to take over the canal.
November 1903, Panama became an independent country in Central America.
September 9, 1977, US and Panama signed a new treaty for the Panama canal. on December 31, 1999, Panama finally get their Panama canal back.
The History of Panama
ResourcesPanama has a lot of nature resources such as
minerals, seafood or vegetables. Panama has a very rich rain forest, almost 70% of the land in
Panama is rain forest. In the rain forest, there’s a lot of mahogany, cedar and palm. Also, there’s some gold, silver, copper, salt and coal in the
rain forest. About agriculture, there’s corn, rice, banana and coffee.

GeographyPanama is a country located on Central America,
bordering both the Caribbean Sea and Pacific Ocean, and between Colombia, Costa Rica.
Panama is located on the narrow and isthmus Panama. The country is situated Between 7°and
10° north latitude and 77°and 83°west longitude.
ClimatePanama are uniformly hot in the year, it has a tropical
climate, and the relative humidity is also very high, but the Diurnal ranges are low. On a dry season in Panama, the
lowest temperature in the morning is about 24 °C (75.2 °F), and the highest temperature in the afternoon is about 29 °C (84.2 °F). Sometimes temperature is hot, about 32 °C (89.6
°F).
Panama CanalPanama canal is a 82 Km long ship canal that all the way across and connected the Pacific ocean to the Atlantic ocean. The canal cuts across the Isthmus of Panama and also is a key conduit for international maritime trade. It is very important for trade and
transportation. Make people carry things out of the country much faster and more convenient. It has a very huge lock gate to
determine maximum size of the ship that can pass across the lock gate. Some country made some ships that are too big for the
Panama canal so they can’t pass through the gate. for example, a Japanese ship carried about 150 thousand tons of cargo, it’s too
many for the canal so the ship can’t pass the gate.
