1 4-H Participation Fee Increases to $25.00 The participation fee up to October 31, 2016 is $20.00. Enrollment forms and fees must be in the Palo Pinto County Extension office and have been entered into the state enrollment system by October 31st in order to avoid the fee increase to $25.00.

5 Brazos Valley Swine Jackpot in Mineral Wells

5 District 3 Food Show - This event will be held in Vernon. Youth must qualify at the County Food Show to advance to this contest.

7 Major Livestock Show Entry Day On this day, the Extension Office will be open from 8 am to 7 pm for those who are participating in major shows, to complete their entries. Please plan to come see us on or before this day so we can get you entered. If you have questions, please call the Extension Office at (940) 659-1228.

Rabbit Project Workshops These will be held at the Expo Building in Mineral Wells at 7pm, weather permitting.

3 County-wide Showmanship Clinic This hands-on workshop will be held at the Santo Ag Farm. Sheep & Goats will begin at 9:00 a.m., Swine will begin at 10:00 a.m & Cattle will begin at 11:00 a.m. Please bring your animals, except for swine.

11 County Rabbit Tag-In Rabbits that will be shown at the Palo Pinto County Livestock Show must be tagged-in from 1:00 - 5:00 p.m. at the EXPO building in Mineral Wells.

19 Major Livestock Show Exhibitors Meeting This meeting will take place at the Extension office beginning at 6:30 p.m. Show packets will be available.

4-H Enrollment & Participation Palo Pinto County 4-H families have done an excellent job in getting enrollment forms

and fees submitted. Thank You! If you have not submitted your enrollment form and participation fee, please remember that youth are not active 4-H members until their membership has been entered into the state system and the participation fee is paid. It is not too late to become a member. Submit your form and the required fee ($25.00 after November 1, 2016). Remember that the PPCLA has a new rule that in order to show at the county stock show, you must be an active member (dues paid) of 4-H or FFA by December 15, 2016.

Attention Major Livestock Show Exhibitors

Quality Counts verification is required for all youth exhibiting livestock

(market and/or breeding) at major livestock shows in Texas (including the

Ft. Worth Livestock Show, San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo, Houston

Livestock Show and Rodeo, Star of Texas Fair in Austin, San Angelo

Livestock Show, Sandhills Stock Show in Odessa, State Fair of Texas in

Dallas, and Heart O’ Texas Fair in Waco). The verification process will

require exhibitors to pass an online test with a minimum of 80% .

Exhibitors only need to be verified once as a junior exhibitor and once

again as a senior exhibitor. Junior is 8 and in the 3rd grade through 13

years of age as of the previous August 31st. Senior is 14 years or older as

of the previous August 31st. This must be completed before entering any

major livestock show.

PPCLA’s - Deadline for 4-H/FFA Enrollment for

County Show Eligibility

Any bona fide and regularly enrolled member of a 4-H

(membership deadline by December 15, 2016) and/or

FFA chapter in Palo Pinto County shall be eligible to show.
