CAD details, which support the information contained in this document, are available to be downloaded from the Palliside website (www.palliside.co.nz/CAD). A table listing these details can also be found under Section 3 of the Palliside Technical Guide.

these options are available in the existing 6 Palliside colours).
• Pre-routed scribers (in left and right-hand variants)
• 1-part internal corners
• New below joinery finishing options of either a sill cap and a full planted sill.
Important Note on Joinery set-out and Head Flashings
The new pre-routed scribers require strict adhesion to joinery set-out to take into consideration the effect of things like the build-up of flashing tape at corners of openings. It is also recommended that a 1-part head flashing, covering the full depth of the scriber, is supplied by the window fabricator
The following diagrams and table outline the dimensions required to allow for joinery set out and height from the framing to the scriber peak.

1.1 1-part Internal Corner (traditional board profile only)
Replaces Palliside Drained Cavity Installation Guide, Page 13, 2.3.2
The 1-part internal corner flashing must be installed over the cavity battens prior to the installation of the weatherboards. Before installing weatherboards, ensure the 1-part corner flashing is straight and true up the full length of the internal corner. Weatherboards are cleanly cut and butted to the edge of the internal corner. During install, check to make sure board courses line up on both sides of the corner. See detail DC-08-T.

1.2 Joins at Internal Corners
In situations where a join is required at an internal corner, adjoin two 1-part internal corner flashings together by firmly inserting a dowel or plug fashioned from H3.1 treated timber to keep parts located together and apply flashing tape along the join behind the flashing ensuring the tape is pressed down firmly. Where possible, position the join away from eye height.

1.3 Installing Weatherboard at Windows
Replaces Palliside Drained Cavity Installation Guide, Page 16, 2.5.1 Installing weatherboard to sill height, page 18, 2.6.2 Installation of jamb flash base and joinery
Carry out installation of weatherboard to the base of the window opening, cutting weatherboard around opening to suit (making sure that the cut of the weatherboard is no higher than the sill trimmer plate). Pack out weatherboard at sill trimmer. Cut boards are to be fixed at minimum 600mm centres (400mm above VH wind zones) through the under window base clip. See details DC-02-T and DC-34-T.
1.4 Jamb Flash Base
The jamb flashing can be installed after installation of the window joinery. Cut the jamb flashing base to match the height of the opening. Fix the flashing in place so that 8-11mm of the top leg is exposed out to the side of the joinery. This will give sufficient surface area for gluing the pre-cut scriber in place, and ensure a minimum of 10mm flange cover from the joinery. See detail DC-03-T.

profile only)
Replaces Palliside Drained Cavity Installation Guide, Page 17, 2.6.1 Installation at base of opening (sill) and 2.6.1.1 Using the Palliside Window Base Scriber to Close the Gap Below Joinery
There is no sill tray required when installing Palliside over a drained cavity; however, cut weatherboards below window openings must be fixed in place to the support bar or packer at maximum 600mm centres. This is achieved by using the Palliside under window base clip and the choice of two different under window finishing options; The Palliside Under Window Low Profile Bead, or the Palliside Under Window Planted Sill.
Cut the Palliside under window base clip to the width of the window opening, hold against the board below the window opening pushing up to the aluminium joinery. Trim the top/front tear off strips as required to ensure that once installed, the gap between the back of the joinery flange and the front lip of the window base clip will be less than 5mm. Fix in place through the fixing groove using appropriate screws.
1.6 Under Window Low Profile Bead
Cut the low profile bead to the width of the aluminium window (between scribers) and clip firmly in place over the window base clip ensuring that the clip is fully engaged. See detail DC-02-T.

1.7 Under Window Planted Sill
Cut the full sill to allow enough overhang from each side of the window for scriber width as well as desired aesthetic, modifying if required by removing the snap-off tab if the sill sits fully on a flat section of the weatherboard profile. Ensure the sill is placed centrally to the window before fully clipping. Clip the sill firmly in place over the window base clip ensuring that the clip is fully engaged. Fix the full sill from at least one side of the opening (inside the sill) to avoid moving from side to side and fit handed moulded end caps, modifying as required by removing extension tabs depending on where the sill sits on the weatherboard profile, and secure in place using solvent cement. See detail DC-34-T.
1.8 Head Flashings
Replaces Palliside Technical Guide, page 12, 2.9.2 Head Flashings; Palliside Drained Cavity Installation Guide, page 8, 2.1.1 Consideration of window head flashings; page 19, diagram G Installation of Head Flashing with cut weatherboard profile; page 19 2.6.5, installation of head flashing; page 20, diagram H Installation of Head Flashing with Full Weatherboard profile
When using the new pre-cut scribers (traditional profile only), a conventional 1-part head flashing (aluminium type head flashing supplied by others) is required to be used. When using this method, it can be difficult to fit the cut board around the head flashing (particularly when joinery is close together) and the use of additional jointers (flat soakers) at this height may become necessary.
The head flashing is installed to the back of the cavity and taped to the building underlay as shown in detail DC-01-T. Refer minimum 1-part head flashing depth.

Pre-cut Scribers
The Palliside pre-cut scribers are cut to precisely fit the Palliside traditional weatherboard profile. It is critical that boards are aligned and there is no creep at all between boards. It is suggested that a length of Palliside pre-cut scriber is used as a guide and checked against the weatherboard assembly as boards are installed.
Cut the scribers to length (handed for each side of the opening) to suit the height of the opening and the position of the traditional profile board. Ensure the scribers are pushed up firmly against the traditional profile board before marking and cutting. Match the angle of the head flashing at the head of the window and the full sill angle at the sill (or carry past the base of the window if using the under window low profile bead to finish). See detail DC-03-T.
Once fitment is confirmed, remove scriber and carefully apply a continuous bead of solvent cement to the long edge of the scriber insert clip as shown in diagram H.1. Re-install into place, pressing firmly towards joinery and up against the board profile to ensure a good bond.
For the planted sill option, the scriber is required to match both height and angle of the protruding sill.
For the low profile bead option, the scriber needs to be carried past the height of the bead to cover the hollow ends of this trim.

to match the traditional board profile. To aid in this ensure the pitch of scriber cut remains 129.5mm exactly. The plastic insert clip installed in to the groove of the scriber can be removed and installed centrally at the cut to provide support at the join and the remaining inserts installed above and below this. The insert clip must be pushed back into the scriber slot fully down the entire length of the scriber.

Under Window Planted Sill
Palliside now includes an optional Under Window Planted Sill. The sill uses a white base clip fixed under windows, over the sill flashing through the weatherboard, packer and in to the framing. The sill is then cut to the correct length and clipped in place.
Cut the Palliside under window base clip to the width of the window opening, hold against the board below the window opening pushing up to the aluminium joinery. Trim the top/front tear off strips as required to create the 5mm gap required. Fix in place through the fixing groove in the base using appropriate screws.
