Sir/Madam,

Heartfelt regards.

Pranam (Namaskar) Everybody.

Consisting of a group benevolent volunteers, our

institution/organization PALLI UNNAYAN SEVA SAMITI (PUSS),

Naharakanta, is rendering its service to the destitute and needy girl

children of Odisha, those who have been deprived and neglected by the

society and their families and relatives, working for their all round

development since last 34 years. PUSS keeps faith on Gandhiyan

Philosophy, Principles and Ideology. Overcoming all its hurdles, PUSS

is still on track; and ready to complete the race. It’s not only an

institution; it’s a “MAHAJAJNA” (mahajagyan); which resounds

“Service to Mankind is Service to God ”. That’s the way of loving our

beautiful civilization. “A Child’s Right to an Empowered Life ” is its

theory and the motto “To be One Out of Many”. Our aim is “To Keep

all the Underprivileged Children Smiling “ ; because we believe “ So

Long as Children are Allowed to Suffer ,There is no Love in the

World “.

A bunch of pleasure gathered in the year 2017-18 by its versatile well

deeds, PUSS wants to reflect them on these pieces of papers, which may

draw a line of hope and smile on your lips as to extend your helping

hands towards its tiny- soft hands filled with love and affection.

We believe that, the negativity of the society can’t put us down

unless we allow it to get inside us. We are following the path of truth.

We know, that, we come with nothing; we go with nothing; and also we

do believe, that, humanity is greater than wealth.

Facts gave us pleasure are:

1.COUNSELLING : As per the rules and regulations stipulated in law

and time to time instructions given by the CHILD WELFARE

COMMITTEE (CWC) and the DISTRICT CHILD PROTECTION UNIT

(DCPU), we are promoting the psychological care of the children. We

counsel all our children regularly by our counselors, along with ICP

(Individual Care Planning) in different phases and groups. Sometimes we

do have group counselling also. Through counselling we make them

psychologically strong and we teach them how to sustain in their social

lives. They have been taught about good moral character, daily routine

life, social stigmas, their basic rights and duties etc. By the effect of

counselling, the children get to know the good and bad things revealed in

the society. In this way, they receive the tools to understand and

interpret reality.

2.RESCUE,REHABILITATION&DEINSTITUTIONALIZATION

"Familly First" is a concept very clear in our mind. We know that every

child has the right to have a family, and that family is the best place

where to live.

In this view, we counsel and prepare all children sent by CWC & DCPU to

go, when ready, to their families or families of their relatives.

We support ADOPTION. As per the guidelines prescribed by DCPU &

CWC, we also send children for adoption, to provide them best family

support and to make them socially and economically stronger to lead

their future lives.

By the above mentioned two procedures, we try our best to

deinstitutionalize the respective children for their bright future.

On the part of Rescue & Rehabilitation; we care for the children who

have been sent by CWC & DCPU to our organization. We put emphasis

on the all round development of the children in need of care & protection.

We try our best to rehabilitate them by providing them all good health,

care and education. All the children of our organization get their

education in RAMADEVI GIRLS’ HIGH SCHOOL managed by our

organization, which provides school education from Balwadi (pre

nursery) to class X.

To support their bright future and sustainability we also provide Higher

Education to the deserving children. After completition of their High

school certificate Examination we send them for their studies in different

colleges of Odisha.

3.TRAINING & AWARENESS PROGRAMME

We organize different training & awareness programme in our

organization for the betterment of our children and for the

staffs/volunteers too, by providing them all the proper, adequate and up

to date guidance. In the year 2017-2018, we had following programme to

make our children and staffs aware about different issues :-

APRIL-2017

Ms. Christina Raju, Miss India – Odisha 2017 (finalist for Miss

India contest 2017), Sri Matrudatta Mishra, Chairman, Young

Indians ,Ms Chidartmika Khatua, YI, Masoom, Ms Jayashree

Mohanty, President, Rotary E-Club, Sri A.K. Mohapatra, IFS,

Incoming President, Rotary E-Club, and Child Line, Bhubaneswar

have conducted an awareness by an audio visual movie and

motivational speech by the delegates on the topic “Safe & Unsafe

Touch”.

MAY to AUGUST -2017

Life skill Education provided by Ms Samapika Routray, MSW on

29th July and 12th August.

An awareness rally was carried on 11th July 2017 on the occasion

of World Population Day.

4.RECOGNITION & AWARDS

As we are providing many different extracurricular classes/activities

to our children such as, self defense/life saving skill (JUDO &

KARATE), music (Song), Dance (Classical & modern), Art & Paint etc,

6.EDUCATION:

“EDUCATION FOR ALL” is our fundamental motto. Education

creates a healthy Nation. Following the Gandhian philosophy and

principles, we put out best efforts to educate our children and also

the truly needy destitute children in the society. We are managing

an Odia Medium School as RAMADEVI GIRLS’ HIGH SCHOOL in

the same campus which provides school education from Class

Balwadi (pre nursery) to class-x.

We have also started a new project for imparting education to “Day

Boarders”. Children from different slums of Bhubaneswar are

coming to our organization and studying in our school. They have

been provided with Breakfast, Lunch and Tiffin in the afternoon.

These are the results we achieved in Education in 2017-18:

Engg. , ITI in Mechanic Motor Vehicle and COPA.

Regular school education, co-curricular activity classes, vocational training classes are being conducted successfully for children.

38 Children have appeared Class X exam from 28th Feb to 10th March. Students from Balwadi to class-IX have appeared annual

examination from 14th Mar’17 to 20th Mar’2017 PA training was conducted on 16th & 17th February

7.HEALTH CARE:-

We concern mostly for the health problem of our children. We

believe “Health is Wealth”. Almost care have been given to the

health condition of our children. We try our best by educating our

children and Caregivers to develop good habits to stay healthy.

Necessary steps have been taken to provide hygienic atmosphere to

all of our children. We provide the best treatment at all the leading

Private Hospitals at Bhubaneswar including Govt. Hospitals also to

the children in need of proper hospitality as and when required.

In the year 2017-18 we care for our children as follows:-

Bhabani Reddy, aged 3 years, has undergone an anesthesia

examination at LV Prasad Eye Institute, Bhubaneswar and it was

diagnosed by the Dr. Abhik Roy that the child had a malfunction

before birth. Both the eyes of the child are damaged completely due

to the malfunction. Hence, neither the medical treatment nor the

eye donation can help the child to get eye sight. Bhabani is blind,

deaf, dumb and unable to walk. He is a special child and needs to

be transferred to a home for special children. Now he is provided

with special diet and physiotherapy to enable him to walk.

Pratyusha, aged 9 years, is under regular treatment for PT at

Maaya Health Centre of Dr.Mukesh Kumar. She is taking Fresh

Frozen Plasma at SCB Medical, Cuttack presently due to an

abnormal swelling of one side of her head.

Richa Pradhan, aged14 years, have detected diabetes is under

regular check-up and treatment at Dr Mohan’s Diabetes Specialty

Clinic and Dr.Sambit Das , Apollo Hospital.

Kuni Behera, age 16 years, the HIV + child, is provided special diet

and care regularly. Her CD 4 count is 395. She had started the ART

drugs since 02-10-2016 as advised by the doctor.

Swarnalata Mati has diagnosed with a leakage in one valve of her

heart. She is under regular treatment of Dr Chandrabhanu Parija,

Kalinga Hospital.

Karishma Bisoi 15 years was detected with SCD and transfused the

required quantity of blood at Unit VI hospital, BBSR in March 17.

Necessary steps were taken to provide hygienic atmosphere to the

children, e.g. re-construction of the sewage systems , cleaning of

the floor of bath space, overhead water tanks, toilets, drains,

repairing of fans electricity lines, etc.

Household visit has been conducted by PUSS team members to

Pathara Bandha slum and 65 to 70 deprived children have been

identified to re-continue their education at our school under EEE

project.

AMWAY OPPURTUNITY FOUNDATION has granted Rs.3,59,620/-

towards improvement of the Tailoring Unit program. The grant

includes the capacity building training of the artisans and children

of PUSS by NIFT , purchase of 2 advanced sewing machines with

more productivity, purchase of raw materials, etc.

Our CCI staffs had been interviewed by District Child Protection

Unit, Khordha on 10th Feb’17 at Khordha Collector’s office.

An awareness rally was conducted by PUSS team members,

children , and Child Line members on 23rd Feb’17 in Naharkanta.

The adult girls attended the awareness meeting on “Breast Cancer”

at MDB Trust on 25th Feb’17.

TRUST and PUSS celebrated the “National Science Day” -2017 on

28th February in collaboration with TRUST, Bhubaneswar.

Awareness & plantation program on the occasion of “Swachhata

Pakhwada– 2017”was conducted at PUSS on 6th March in

collaboration with DCPU, Khordha.

Swastha Bharat Trust organized a programme for sensitizing

children to raise voice against injustice, knowing medicines before

use, and plants as medicines. It also honoured some girl for active

participation in the discussion.

APPROVED. Amway shall provide support for co curricular

activity classes to the children. Tech-Mahindra Foundation will

adopt our school programme. Smile Foundation will support for

additional diet to 100 children.

No APL rice – No stock of APL rice with the Civil supply department,

Govt. of Odisha. PUSS buys the rice paying double the cost than APL

rice on the open market.

No public drain facility by Govt. – There is no public drainage facility

in our area, therefore, the waste water and the rain is becoming

logged in the institution campus. We run the water pump to take out

the logged water from the drain and field of the institution.

Critically low voltage – The voltage is too low to supply the electricity

to run the water pump, water purifier, computers, fans, STP, etc.
