BeliefsBeing heavily influenced bytheir more powerful Hinduneighbors, the Paite havegiven up many of their tradi-tional customs to imitate theHindu customs of the Brah-mans (highest caste of Hindu priests and scholars).Although some remnants of their ethic religions are evi-

dent, the tribes are primarilyconsidered Hindu.

Needs

The isolated, smaller tribeshave no Christian resourcesavailable in their language.Efforts need to be made toreach them.

Practical help is sorelyneeded in the areas of agri-

culture, education and es-pecially health care. Medicalsupplies along with qualifieddoctors and nurses are se-verely lacking in remoteareas.
