Semana Santa:
•Otherwise known as Easter Week,
•Parish members decorate floats with religious depictions of christ & Carry them along the streets towards their cathedrals.
•This tradition occurs the week before easter sunday
Las Fallas:
•Neighbourhoods join together to
create gigantic statues symbolizing
all of their bad and angry energy
•Shortly after showcasing all of
these statues, they are burnt to
ashes symbolizing all of the bad and
angry energy going away and
leaving some room for better energy
to come in next season
•This tradition occurs throughout
the week of march leading up to St.
Josephs day on the 19th
Carnaval:
•The Spanish Carnaval
is almost as extravagant
as the brazilian one

•This Carnaval takes

before Lent which is

Cristianos y Moros:
•Translates to Christians
and Moors
•Celebrates the departure
of the 400-year-reign of

different towns that
celebrate this tradition
but they all like to
celebrate it at many

Españas Customs•Most common customs is that lunch is the most
important meal of the day; eaten between 2:00 and
3:00pm
•Shortly after the lunch, the famous siesta (nap) would
be taken
• You should never be phoning someone or a household
during the siesta
•the workday continues at around 4:30pm
•usually consume beer and wine with every meal, but
strong coffee is equally desired
•Many men shake hands and usually it’s a two handed
shake with one on top of the other.
•Wedding rings worn by women are to be worn on the
4th finger on the right hand rather than the left
•Mature women are to be referred as “Señora” while
younger women are to be referred as
“Señorita”
•When you are to kiss someone, you are to kiss them
high up on the cheek and never near the mouth
•It is taboo to schedule an event or activity on a tuesday
the 13th due to it being an unlucky day.
