Pahl Architecture pc began as Joseph W. Pahl Architect in 1959. Fifty-five years later, Pahl Architecture still holds to our guiding principle of Architecture Exceeding Expectations. The firm has evolved and changed throughout the years, molding our principal markets around the needs of the community and the dictates of the economy. We have provided innovative and exceptional architecture for projects throughout the United States in five primary markets: Academic Facilities, Government/Municipal, Hospitality, Preservation, and Commercial Work Environments.

Numerous architectural awards for excellence in architecture have been presented to Pahl Architecture, and many of our projects and architects have been featured in local and national publications. Such honors include awards for design excellence, historic preservation, conscientious service, and design/build teaming; by organizations that include the American Institute of Architects, the Precast/Prestressed Concrete Institute, The American Wood Council, the Colorado Historical Society, Colorado Preservation, Inc. and others. We strive to make each project worthy of such honors.

University of Colorado Student and Community Counseling Center | Auraria Higher Education Center

PahlArchitecture,alongwithBeaudinGanzeConsultingEngineers, converted an existing classroom space on the 4th floor of the Tivoli Student Union into the new offices of the University of Colorado Denver Student and Community Counseling Center. The space functions as a working counseling center and a teaching environment for students learning counseling. Features include a large student research and learning area, a group meeting room, 15 counselor offices, and 8 therapy rooms that can be observed through an adjacent observation room. Additionally, there is a large reception area and a kitchen/breakroom for the employees.

The Neighborhood House was originally constructed as achildcarecenterin1927.TheBridgeProject,anafterschool tutoring and mentoring program operated by the UniversityofDenver’sGraduateSchoolofSocialWork,became the new tenant in 2014. To accommodate theBridgeProject’sneeds,PahlArchitectureprovidedfull space planning, programming, and construction documents for the renovation of the building and the build-out of the tenant’s programs. The building’sexterior façade was renovated and painted, old windows and doors were replaced, and exterior site work and landscaping were replaced. The interior of the building was brought up to current life safety codes and first-floor accessibility was added along with new restrooms, firealarms,newHVACsystems,allnewelectricalwork,wireless internet, as well as new finishes.
