CONTAINER GARDENING EXTRAVAGANZA Tuesday, May 6 6:30 - 8:30 pm North Meeting Room Kathleen Obirek will discuss and demonstrate the art of container gardening. A container garden will be raffled off at the end of the program!
ARRANGING FLOWERS Tuesday, May 20 7:00 pm North Meeting Room Learn how to arrange flowers beautifully with tips from Meg Klinkow Hartman, director of the South Holland Public Library. A lovely arrangement will be raffled off at the end of the program!
RAIN BARRELS Tuesday, May 27 6:30 - 7:30 pm North Meeting Room Rich Thornton will show you how to install a rain barrel in your yard and discuss how rain barrels will save you money on your water bill all summer long.
SOLAR PANELS Tuesday, May 27 7:30 - 8:30 pm North Meeting Room Scott Jansen will discuss the advantages of solar power and give step-by-step details on how to install solar panels in your home. Save Money on your electric bill all year long!

COMPUTER BOOT CAMP FOR KIDS Saturday, May 3 or 17 11:00 am Ages 3-6 Have fun while learning to use the computer mouse and keyboard. Pre-registration is necessary and begins April 19. MUSICAL STORY GO ROUND Saturday, May 3 2:00 pm Ages 4-7 Catch a ride on the Musical Story Go-Round with songs, stories, rhythm instruments and FUN! This program is part of the Library’s continuing effort to promote early literacy. Pre-registration is necessary and begins April 19. CINCO DE MAYO FIESTA Monday, May 5 4:00 pm Grades K-2 Celebrate Mexican culture with games, music, stories and snacks. Come listen to stories about favorite book characters in English and Spanish. Learn a few Spanish words and phrases while munching on traditional Mexican snacks. Pre-registration is necessary and begins April 21. KONNECT WITH K’NEX Monday, May 5 6:30 pm Grades 4-8* Work alone or as a team making K’nex structures from our transportation sets. Pre-registration is necessary and begins April 21. TODDLER TIME Tuesday, May 6 10:30 am Ages 2 and 3 with a caregiver Team up with your toddler for stories, musical activities and a simple craft. Pre-registration is necessary and begins April 22. FANTASTIC FLYERS Thursday, May 8 6:30 pm Grades 3-6* Make your own paper airplane and test your flying skills against other competitors. Will your plane fly the farthest? PAWS TO READ Monday, May 12 6:30 pm Grades K-4 Cuddle up with a book and read aloud to a furry canine friend. The dogs are fully trained and certified by Power Paws for Kids. Tails are sure to wag! Pre-registration is necessary and begins April 28. LET’S GO LEGO-ING Thursday, May 15 4:00 pm Grades 3-6* We provide the Lego bricks, you provide your imagination! Your project will go on display in the Youth Services Dept. Pre-registration is necessary and begins May 1. MINECRAFT MANIA Saturday, May 24 11:00 am Grades 4-8 Dig for buried treasures, create massive worlds and explore an endless universe with Minecraft. Space is limited. Youth Services Summer Reading Program PAWS TO READ
Make plans now to join the Summer Reading Program! The Youth Services Program is called “Paws to Read” and will begin on June 2. The reading program includes incentives for reading as well as many programs and activities throughout the summer. Children who participate in our Summer Reading Program will keep their brains active and enter school in the fall ready to learn and succeed! We also continue to enhance our STEM programming. From Toddler Time and Musical Story Go-Round to Junior Artists, Let’s Go LEGOing, and Konnect with K’nex - we have something for every interest! FREE COMIC BOOK DAY Saturday, May 3 2:00 - 4:00 pm North Meeting Room All ages event! Come celebrate “Free Comic Book Day,” at the library. We will be showing, “With Great Power…The Stan Lee Story,” along with giving out free comic books courtesy of The Zone Comics located in Homewood, IL. Popcorn will be provided!
TEEN CREATIVE CLUB Wednesday, May 7 and 21 3:00 - 4:00 pm North Meeting Room Grades 6-12 This month we will be using duct tape to create anything and everything. From swords, purses, wallets and flowers; we can create whatever we want with just a little imagination!
