PageOne enhances messaging capabilities for educational institutions London, 28 June, 2012 - PageOne Communications, the UK’s leading provider of mobile messaging solutions to the public and enterprise sectors, today announced the release of MoodleMobile 2, PageOne’s plug-in enabling users of the open source Moodle 2 virtual learning environment (VLE) direct access to Janet txt messaging services. Capitalising on the strengths of the first MoodleMobile module, MoodleMobile 2 allows course administrators to send any combination of text, email and Moodle messages to their existing contacts and groups already established within the VLE environment. All replies are routed back to the administrator via email or through the Moodle messaging system, with a status column allowing users to see which messages have been sent and delivered. Provided by PageOne on behalf of Janet, the Janet txt messaging service has grown from strength to strength since its launch in 2007. Users of the service benefit exclusively from low text message rates and set-up costs, a resilient infrastructure, superior levels of technical and customer support, as well as a variety of enhanced messaging services. In addition to MoodleMobile 2, PageOne also offer a number of other integration options including plug-ins for both for Microsoft Excel and Outlook, and range of protocols such as SOAP/XML, RESTful, SMTP, SMPP, SNPP and AJAX. “The PageOne plug-in for Moodle 2 has proved an invaluable resource to enable swift and effective communication with students and staff” says Daran Price, Learning Systems Developer, Southampton Solent University. “Essential information, such as last minute changes to timetables and room bookings, can be sent instantly to appropriate groups of staff and students as an SMS direct to their phones." Chris Jones, CEO of PageOne says, “We understand the importance of interoperability within the education community and given the success of the first plug-in, it seemed a logical step to extend the capability to Moodle 2.
