Addressing the meeting here on Sunday, JPPF President Pavittar Singh Bhardwaj termed the bold steps initiated by the Governor administration exemplary. "Governor's decision to punish and slapping crimi- nal cases on the senior most officials involved in allot- ting Insurance Medical Scheme to Reliance General Insurance Company speaks about the way he intends to deliver a judicious and cor- ruption free administration which since 1947 has eaten upon roots of the State both at political and administra- tive levels." Bhardwaj said adding that Governor's another bold decision to cancel the Rs 100 crore project will also be an eye opener as to how the cor- ruption is rampant at the high level both in the administration and the political spheres. The erstwhile State Governments, Pavittar Singh said, too had taken measures to eradicate the rampant corruption by dis- missing number of officers and government officials but nothing more than eye- wash and proved futile as all dismissed officers were reinstated in the due course by dint of the Court orders in view of framing weak cases. It is the Governor Satya Pal Malik, he said, who has recently set up the anticor- ruption bureau with powers to arrest the corrupt people and seizure of their proper- ties to check the menace of corruption at all levels in the bureaucracy as well as political spheres. Regarding turmoil in the Valley where the govern- ment had withdrawn cases and released more than 10,000 stone pelters, the JPPF president said that the same stone pelters are now joining militancy ranks and fighting the security forces. He condemned the killing of a soldier by the stone pelters recently who stoned him to death while fighting was not even allowed to use his gun in self defence. He has asked for a strin- gent and exemplary punish- ment to the stone pelters which should serve as an eye opener for the other stone pelters active in the Valley. The JPPF supported the endeavour of the Governor in his efforts and actions to eradicate the rampant cor- ruption at the administra- tion and political level and bringing out normalcy in the trouble torn State.
