STATE TIMES NEWSJAMMU: Appreciating theboldness and firm determi-nation to root out the cor-ruption from the State,Jammu Province PeopleForum (JPPF) on Sundaylauded the Governor SatyaPal Malik for the diagnosishe has pulsed for the chron-ic root cause.
Addressing the meetinghere on Sunday, JPPFPresident Pavittar SinghBhardwaj termed the boldsteps initiated by theGovernor administrationexemplary.
"Governor's decision topunish and slapping crimi-nal cases on the senior mostofficials involved in allot-ting Insurance MedicalScheme to Reliance GeneralInsurance Company speaksabout the way he intends todeliver a judicious and cor-ruption free administrationwhich since 1947 has eatenupon roots of the State bothat political and administra-tive levels." Bhardwaj saidadding that Governor'sanother bold decision tocancel the Rs 100 crore
project will also be an eyeopener as to how the cor-ruption is rampant at thehigh level both in theadministration and thepolitical spheres.
The erstwhile StateGovernments, PavittarSingh said, too had takenmeasures to eradicate therampant corruption by dis-missing number of officersand government officialsbut nothing more than eye-wash and proved futile asall dismissed officers werereinstated in the due courseby dint of the Court ordersin view of framing weakcases.
It is the Governor SatyaPal Malik, he said, who hasrecently set up the anticor-ruption bureau with powersto arrest the corrupt peopleand seizure of their proper-ties to check the menace ofcorruption at all levels inthe bureaucracy as well aspolitical spheres.
Regarding turmoil in theValley where the govern-ment had withdrawn casesand released more than10,000 stone pelters, the
JPPF president said thatthe same stone pelters arenow joining militancy ranksand fighting the securityforces. He condemned thekilling of a soldier by thestone pelters recently whostoned him to death whilefighting was not evenallowed to use his gun inself defence.
He has asked for a strin-gent and exemplary punish-ment to the stone pelterswhich should serve as an eyeopener for the other stonepelters active in the Valley.The JPPF supported theendeavour of the Governorin his efforts and actions toeradicate the rampant cor-ruption at the administra-tion and political level andbringing out normalcy inthe trouble torn State.

He saidthat people are continu-ously facing threat fromceasefire violations andgovernment has failed toprotect people living on theborder. Sharma also saidthat the BJP-PDPGovernment was a govern-ment of corruption andscams which are now com-ing in public one by one.The complete selection listof J&K Bank was changedand favorites of politicianswere appointed by darken-ing the future of thedeserving and meritoriouscandidates. Even theworking of Public ServiceCommission was compro-mised under the BJPGovt. where candidate wasselected even withoutappearing in the KASexam. The State Govt.employees were also hit ofthe insurance scam inwhich they were forced tobuy expensive insurancepolicy from the AnilAmbani's InsuranceCompany on the similarlines of Rafale Scam byModi to benefit AnilAmbani.

In his inaugural address,Natrang Director BalwantThakur informed thatNatrang has already creat-ed a record in the countryby showcasing 20 majordifferent plays by the samegroup in a period of fivemonths.
He complimented allactors, directors and tech-nicians of Natrang associ-ated with the holding ofNatrang festivals. Theopening play 'Refund' filledwith humour, energy andsatire, provided a befittingstart to the festival inwhich different plays of
different genre are beingfeatured.

STATE TIMES NEWSJAMMU: Eye-catching wallpaintings depicting rich cul-ture and heritage havecome up in the winter capi-tal as the administration isbusy sprucing up the cityahead of 'Darbar Move'.
'Darbar Move' is the 146-year-old practice of bi-annual shifting of the statecapital between Jammu andSrinagar.
The wall painting is partof the beautification projectbeing undertaken by thedivisional administration to
welcome the state govern-ment which is scheduled tostart functioning from herefor six months onNovember 5.
The Civil Secretariat --seat of Jammu andKashmir government, RajBhavan and other majoroffices -- was closed in thesummer capital, Srinagar,on October 26.
The 'Darbar Move' wasstarted by the thenMaharaja Gulab Singh in1872 to escape the extremeheat during summers in
Jammu and biting cold ofwinters in Srinagar.
The practice was contin-ued by elected governmentspost-independence to pro-vide governance benefits --by turns-- to both Kashmirand Jammu regions of thestate for six months.
Besides the wall painting,many works like repair andblack topping of roads,marking of yellow and whitelines on the signals, planta-tion on dividers, cutting ofornamental plants ondividers to enhance thebeauty and branch cuttingalongside the roads was inprogress, officials said.
They said flower decorand installation of flowerpots on bridges and variousdesignated places andrepair of defunct lights onflyovers and roads was alsogoing on.
A brainchild of theJammu MunicipalCorporation (JMC), thewall painting in the city wasstarted in May under the
Corporate SocialResponsibility with a widerange of themes and thepaintings have alreadyreceived wide acclaim,Secretary JMC and NodalOfficer of the projectSunaina Sharma told PTI.
She said the work is in fullswing and most of the wallshave been painted depictingrich culture and heritage,giving a colourful look tothe city. Lauding the effortsof the artists, especiallystudents of the Institute ofMusic and Fine Arts,Sharma said everyone fromcorporate houses to govern-ment departments are com-ing forward and linkingwith the mission to makethe city beautiful.
Divisional commissioner,Jammu, Sanjeev Verma,along with DeputyCommissioner RameshKumar and JMCCommissioner ArvindKotwal, have shown person-al interest and are monitor-ing the artworks themselves
and guiding the field staff,she said. Referring to thepainting work done by stu-dents at Brigader RajinderChowk near the civil secre-tariat, she said it is a visualtreat of artwork. The stu-dents have turned the sidewall of the road into a can-vass to paint Maharaja'sdarbar and Samba andReasi forts. "People areenjoying our work and aretaking pictures and selfies.The paintings are catchingthe eyes of the commuters,"said Ajay Kumar, a finalyear student at theInstitute of Music and FineArts. "People appreciatedtheir work by providingthem snacks, tea and evenmoney as a token of admira-tion," Sharma said.
The wall painting workwill continue round-the-yearwith wide range of themeslike the Swachh Bharat mis-sion, importance of girlchild and education andpropagation of the Dograculture.

STATE TIMES NEWSRAMBAN: Police on Sunday arrested a bootleggers and recov-ered 87 quarters of illicit liquor from his possession.
As per the details, on the directions of SSP Ramban AnitaSharma, a police party led by SI Farid Ahmed accompanied bySHO Ramban Insp. Vijay Kotwal under supervision of DySP HQRamban Asgar Malik and under close supervision of Adll SPSanjay Parihar laid a Naka near Bowli Bazar,Ramban. Duringchecking and frisking, one suspected person started fleeing fromthe spot to avoid checking, but the alert cops chased the andapprehended him. On search, police recovered 87 quarters of illic-it liquor from his bag. The accused identified as Sajad Ahmed sonof Gulzar Ahmed resident of Verinag Distt. Anantnag was arrest-ed and a case vide FIR No.174/18 under section 48(A) of ExciseAct was registered against him at Police Station Ramban.

As per the details, Swarn Singh, sonof Tara Singh, resident of Chak Gharota got injured after thetractor on which he was travelling turned turtle near KangarMorh.
