A much awaited evening of musical

colours on two pianos will go on boards at the Lionel Wendt the-atre on September 20 at 7 pm. Since 2008, the two piano artistes, Ramya de Livera Perera and Soundarie David Rodrigo, have established a wide range on two-piano repertoire. The programme begins

with a majestic march, which is introduction in the Rachmaninov Suite No 2. It is followed by the Brahm's variations on a theme by Haydn.

The composer weaves a beautiful tapestry of eight variations from a simple

melody. A delightful rondo by Chopin follows. Chopin once said ‘My universe will be the soul and heart of man’.

This rondo is brilliant and emotionally restless and is shared between the players in a Chopinesque dialogue.

Another uncommon work, Capricce, by French composer ,Poulenc, makes

the listener taste an entirely different palette of colors, exuding joy, humor and sat-ire.

Guest artiste Maryanne David, who has introduced the joy of singing and per-forming to hundreds of peo-ple from all walks of life, the young, not so young and the gracefully old alike, will be adding a whole new dimension to the concert. She will sing in her own imitable style selections from Gershwin, Irving Ber-lin and Cole Porter accom-panied by the two piano artistes.

The programme for the evening will come to a close with some exciting catchy latin american rhythms from two popular tangos by Argentinian composer, Pia-zolla.
