This is the time of yearwhen many students gradu-ate from high school andcollege, leaving behindfriends and family for a newworld.

We congratulate UnicoiCounty High School andlocal college graduates fortheir academic achieve-ments and wish them thebest in whatever they willbe doing.

Remember, your libraryis a place that can help youwith college searches and

test preparation. So insteadof playing computer gamesall summer, check out someof the things your librarycan do for you. Of particu-lar importance is the Ten-nessee Electronic LibrarysLearningExpress feature. This is a test preparation

The Get Acquainted Clubmet at Centenary UnitedMethodist Church for itsMay meeting.

The members prepared avariety of lunch items, thatincluded salads, salmon

spread, spinach and chick-en rolls, pickled peppers, fruit selections, zucchinibread, old-fashioned oat-meal cookies and brown-ies.

When Anne Fraziercalled everyone to cleanout their closets and bringto our White ElephantSale the response wasoverwhelming. They ar-rived with collectibles,

During the past threemonths, the Clincheld Se-nior Adult Center staff andboard of directors havebeen working on two pre-viously unanticipated proj-ects.

First, we learned that theold Range Chevrolet prop-erty, which adjoins ourcurrent site, was available

for purchase and we subse-quently entered into a con-tract with John Marotta, the current owner, to buythe property when demoli-tion is complete.

For several years, wehave hoped to get an op-portunity to acquire thatlot to accommodate futureneeds of the senior center, and especially for addi-tional parking. That wasreason for celebration, butwhat happened next waseven more unexpected:we were provided the op-portunity to purchase theRange School of Danceproperty, which adjoins

site for all professional, mil-itary, and college entranceexams. In addition, the siteoffers tutoring for elemen-tary, middle-school, and

high school subjects. Youcan visit the site at www.tntel.info, and its all free ofcharge if you have a librarycard!

    June ReadingThis week we welcome

    June, the sixth month of

one of a kind, that includedjewelry, hand bags, linenfrom Germany, glasswareand so much more.

Frazier served as an auc-tioneer, all the items weredisplayed around tablesfor everyone to view, prior

both our current site andthe Marotta property.

That created a dilemma how to acquire both piecesof property for the seniorcenter with limited fundsand thus ensure room forfuture expansion, whichwill undoubtedly be need-ed within the next six to 10years, with the baby boom-ers just beginning to retire. An added bonus is that theexisting dance studio canbe used immediately for ourYoga classes, which havebeen held at Ninth StreetBaptist Church for 3 years, and for our aerobics and

the year. June is the monthof weddings, graduations, and the ofcial beginning ofsummer. June 14 is Flag Day,and June 21 is Fathers Day.The longest day of the yearis also June 21. Your libraryis a ne place to researchyour gardening and bar-beque interests.

    Summer ReadingSummer Reading starts

    to lunch.Judy Moss brought many

of her treasures. She wasalso the big spender, out-spending everyone by $63.Gloria Morton ran secondwith $47. Both these ladies

have an eye for a bargain. They each said of the itemswere not for themselvesbut as gifts for a friend.

Fannie Mae Parsleybrought her 23 year oldgranddaughters collec-tion of Hello Kitty. PennyJones was quick to placeher lucky bid to take homethe entire collection.

Frazier stayed busydescribing the goods. Lu-

line-dancing classes. The solution to our excit-

ing dilemma was to requestthe Erwin Board of Mayorand Alderman to purchasethe Marotta property in ac-cordance with the contractthe senior center board hadnegotiated and for the BMAto then grant a long-termlease to CSAC similar to

the 99-year lease for $1 peryear which we have withUnicoi County for the siteon which our current facil-ity is constructed.

On May 11, the ErwinBMA unanimously ap-proved a motion to pur-chase the property, whichwill be used for additionalparking.

That action by the BMAfrees up more of our avail-able funds to be used forthe purchase of the Rangestudio property. Our plan isto nance most of the pur-chase amount and makeannual payments on theprincipal. Incurring this
