News Bomb attacks in Jordan

There have been several bomb attacks in Jordan.

They happened in Amman.

Suicide bombers attacked three hotels.

57 people have died.

About 300 people were injured.

Some people who died were at weddings.

One bomber did not explode her bomb.

She was arrested in Jordan.

A terrorist group has accepted responsibility for the bombings.

News Explosions in India's Capital

Three bombs have exploded in Delhi.

Two bombs exploded in markets.

One exploded on a bus.

At least 61 people have died.

More than 180 people have been injured.

This has happened just before a Hindu festival and Eid.

India's Prime Minister has blamed terrorists.

Delhi is India's capital city.

Millions of people live there.

News Giant Crocodile Fossil Found

Fossils of a giant crocodile have been found.

The fossils were found in Chile, South America.

The fossil measures 4 metres long.

The crocodile had big teeth.

Archaeologists think it ate large animals.

They think the crocodile is 140 million years old!

News Grandmother Steals Jewellery

An Italian grandmother stole jewellery from several shops.

The stolen jewellery was worth £70, 000.

She hid the jewellery in her underwear.

She was seen stealing on CCTV.

She said she stole because she was bored.

She wanted to make her life more exciting.

A lion was found living in a garage.

It was heard roaring at night.

The lion was living in the garage of a family in Brazil.

It had lived with the family for 15 years.

The lion used to be part of a circus.

The family live in Rio De Janeiro.

They called the lion 'Baby'.

Neighbours complained to police.

The family are not allowed to keep the lion.

News Policeman leaves drugs in girl's bag

A policeman left drugs in a school girl's bag.

The girl is 10 years old. left

Her class were having a lesson about drugs.

The officer was showing the class a demonstration.

He put drugs into a girl's bag.

Three packets of drugs were put into her bag.

The officer only removed two packets.

She went home with the drugs.

She found the drugs and told her dad.

News Spying Turtles

A Russian scientist has 'created' special spying turtles.

He claims the turtles are remote controlled.

Vibration devices are fitted onto the turtles' shell.

The vibrations make the turtles change direction.

The 'spy' turtles will be specially trained.

A small camera helps control the turtles.

The scientist says the turtles can do spying missions.

He says turtles could place bombs!

The 'spy' turtles also record other wildlife.

News Violence in Paris

There have been riots in northern Paris.

Hundreds of young people fought French police.

Police officers have been injured.

Many cars were set on fire.

Nine teenagers were arrested.

The deaths of two teenagers caused the riots.

The teenagers died running away from police during a disturbance.

The police were investigating a burglary.

The teenage deaths are being investigated.

The story is about a Roman soldier Maximus.

He leads the Roman army.

The old emperor dies and Maximus becomes emperor.

The son of the previous emperor is very jealous.

He tries to kill Maximus.

Maximus runs away but is made a slave.

He becomes a gladiator.

There are lots of impressive battle scenes.

Gladiator has a 15 film certificate.

This is action and romance film.

A rich girl called Rose meets a poor boy called Jack.

They meet on a ship called Titanic.

They both like each other.

The ship sinks.

The ship is real but the story isn't real.

I liked the computer graphics of Titanic.

I didn't like it when Jack died.

It has a 12 rating.

This is an old German story about

why we put tinsel on Christmas trees.

A long time ago a mother was busily cleaning for Christmas.

She polished the furniture and swept the floors with a broom.


The spiders in the house were scared of the broom.

They fled upstairs to the attic.

When it was quiet the spiders crept back downstairs again.

They saw a Christmas tree.

Oh what a beautiful Christmas tree.


The spiders were excited and crawled up the trunk of the tree.

Then they crawled through the branches.

The tree looked beautiful.

Now it looked dull.

Santa Claus came with gifts for the children.

He smiled because the spiders were happy.

But he knew the mother would be sad.

Recipe Peppermint Creams

Ingredients

450 grams icing sugar - sieved

196 gram tin sweetened condensed milk

half teaspoon green food colouring

half teaspoon peppermint essence

Recipe Peppermint Creams

Mix icing sugar and milk until smooth

Add peppermint essence

Divide mixture in half

Add food colouring to half the mixture

Roll out both halves separately to 6 mm thick

Cut into shapes
