Fifth Sunday of Lent: Take the Stone Away Jesus encounters those who mourn his friend and brother, Lazarus,
who has died. In this final and greatest precursor of resurrection,
Jesus shows the power of God over death by summoning Lazarus
from the tomb. The final stone that weighs our humanity down, the
final curse of Eden, is lifted and God’s people will be set free to live
eternally with God in heaven.
What stone (burden/dysfunction/sin) weighs you down the most?
Do you believe that Jesus, through his resurrection, can take
away the stone that burdens you?
How well are you disposed toward accepting God’s healing and
letting go of that stone?

A MESSAGE FROM OUR PASTOR Dear Holy Apostles Parish Family,
We are now 2 1/2 weeks into the way we live chang-
ing and two weeks into no mass and one week into
shelter-at-home. Ultimately, God is calling us home
and that is a good thing. We are also being called to
think of others above ourselves, so we do not risk this
virus on vulnerable people. It is calling us to take care
of our elders and play with our children.
I see many good things happening already. Kids are
writing messages in chalk on their driveways, people
are checking on each other for groceries, people are
opening their windows to sing at night, we are praying
for each other, kind gifts are being sent to the
emergency room nurses. The good is coming out of
everyone!!!!!!
I am sure we will need patience. I am sure we are
worried economically. We are safe in God’s hands
and growing in faith. We had about 7,000 views and
12,000 people reached by Mass Sunday. We have
had 250 go to daily mass live. We are praying the
rosary together live and going to adoration. These are
the things to focus on.
I do need to bring to your attention that we are about
$18,000 short on our collection and need $35,000
by the end of the month to pay our bills. I know many
of you are short. I know some are ok. If you are able,
please continue your giving online at GiveCentral,
text 84321 to give or just mail a check if that is easier
(The Church of Holy Apostles, 5211 W. Bull Valley Rd.,
McHenry IL 60050).
We will all get through this time. It is very interesting
running this parish through Facebook Live. We owe a
lot to our staff at this time of trial and error, especially
Jen Marsh and Estuardo Diaz for make our live
stream work. Last Sunday night, Fr. Andrew, Aaron
and I made dinner together for the first time ever.
It is good to have our college boy home.
Have a Blessed Week! Father Paul
Archbishop Jose H. Gomez of Los Angeles, president of the
U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops, has issued the follow-
ing regarding Coronavirus (COVID-19):
With the worldwide outbreak of the coronavirus, we are
confronted once more with the fragility of our lives, and
again we are reminded of our common humanity; that the
peoples of this world are our brothers and sisters, that we
are all one family under God.
God does not abandon us, he goes with us even now in
this time of trial and testing. In this moment, it is important
for us to anchor our hearts in the hope that we have in Je-
sus Christ. Now is the time to intensify our prayers and sac-
rifices for the love of God and the love of our neighbor. Let
us draw closer to one another in our love for him, and redis-
cover the things that truly matter in our lives.
United with our Holy Father Pope Francis, let us pray in
solidarity for our brothers and sisters here and around the
world who are sick. Let us pray for those who have lost
loved ones to this virus. May God console them and grant
them peace.
We pray also for doctors, nurses, and caregivers, for pub-
lic health officials and all civic leaders. May God grant them
courage and prudence as they seek to respond to this emer-
gency with compassion and in service to the common good.
In this time of need, I invite all the faithful to seek together
the maternal intercession of Our Lady of Guadalupe, and I
share this prayer with you:
Holy Virgin of Guadalupe, Queen of the Angels and Mother
of the Americas.
We fly to you today as your beloved children.
We ask you to intercede for us with
your Son, as you did at the wedding
in Cana.
Pray for us, loving Mother,
and gain for our nation and world,
and for all our families and loved ones,
the protection of your holy angels,
that we may be spared the worst of
this illness.
For those already afflicted,
we ask you to obtain the grace of
healing and deliverance.
Hear the cries of those who are vulnerable and fearful,
wipe away their tears and help them to trust.
In this time of trial and testing, teach all of us in the
Church to love one another and to be patient and kind.
Help us to bring the peace of Jesus to our land and to our
hearts.
We come to you with confidence,
knowing that you truly are our compassionate mother,
health of the sick and cause of our joy.
Shelter us under the mantle of your protection,
keep us in the embrace of your arms,
help us always to know the love of your Son, Jesus. Amen

An Easy Way to Help As we all continue to navigate
through social distancing and a
focus on staying healthy, the impacts
reverberate throughout our own
lives, our local community and our
country. Many of us have been
unable to work due to temporary
business closures and/or our
children being home from school.
As we support our loved ones and
friends through phone calls, social
media contact and our prayers, you
may wonder how you can also sup-
port others in our community. The
St. Vincent de Paul Society greatly
appreciates your donations through
GiveCentral; all donations go directly
toward helping those in our commu-
nity who are struggling with utility,
housing, medical bills as well as
with food shortages. "Whoever has
a bountiful eye will be blessed, for
he shares his bread with the poor."

perar: llama, llama, llama.
prueba y dificultad, especialmente a Jen Marsh y Estuardo
