We want to welcome all of our visitors, especially those who have traveled
from far away, joining us during our celebrations of these holy days. During
this Year of Grace we are filled with joy and wonder as we ponder with
Mary how the God of Heaven and Earth becomes one with us in our
humanity. It is the love story of all creation.
This little child comes bearing gifts for us. He brings us the gift of forgive-
ness, the gift of peace and the promise of salvation. In the darkness and cold
of winter, we are given new life. This life begins now with our faithful
response to the God who has first loved us. And this life will find
its fulfillment when our Risen Savior comes again to raise us from the dead
and bring us into his Kingdom.
May these holy days be a source of blessing and peace for you and as the angels said, "to those on whom
his favor rests." May all of us in our humble way share this “Good News” with the rest of the world.
Merry Christmas!
Father Mike
¡Feliz Navidad!
Padre Mike

Christmas Prayer
O Infant Divine, fill us with your
heavenly peace this Nativity
season. When our worldly
expectations for the holidays fall
short and disappoint us, lead us back
to the manger and the miracle of your
holy birth. You are the gift we seek, the joy we crave
in our hearts. You are Emmanuel, God with us! Gloria
in excelsis Deo! Glory to you, the newborn king!

The mystery we celebrate during this season is that this Light come into the world is the very Son of God who chooses to dwell within and among us. Imagine: God has come to us—personally and in the flesh, like us in all things except sin. But the mystery does not stop there. Now we are to be that Light, we are to be that Presence. As Christmas lights on trees multiply and bring light to every corner, so are we to shine brightly with the Light in every corner of our life and world. And when this season is over with the lights packed away for another year, we are to continue to shine forth in our daily living the mys-tery of God’s love, of God’s salvation. We are not packed away! God’s gift of Light is not given for a season, but for all time and eternity. Such a gift of Light we have and are!

Kid’s Corner An angel of the
Lord appeared
to Joseph in a
dream. No one
knows exactly
what an angel
looks like, but
how would you
imagine one? God sends an angel to
watch over each of us: our guardian
angel. Ask for the guidance of your
angel each day by saying this
prayer:
Lord, keep your angel by my side, to care for me and be my guide; To be my friend through-out the years, and keep me safe from harm and fears; To stay with me each night and day, so from your love I never stray. —the Complete Children’s Liturgy Book

A Sizeable Parish Project...
Over at least two decades a problem has been developing with the back wall of the church. Rain water soaked into the clay soil and the original foundation slowly shifted. A bulge in the wall has been visible since at least the time of Fr. Robinson. The supporting lumber underneath the cracked plaster is also rotted. The repairs will involve getting a permit from the City of San Diego, demolish-ing the old foundation, putting in a new foundation and repairing the wall. We’ve gotten several estimates ranging in price from $28,000—$45,000 to complete this project.
If you have an interest in helping us finance this sizable project and are looking for an end of the year "tax write-off," this is the item for you!
Contact Fr. Mike at the Parish Office if you’d like to help.
God is with us to stay On the brink of Christmas, the Church uses one reading from the Old Testament, Isaiah, and one from the New Testament, Matthew, to focus our atten-tion on a single word: Em-manuel. In Hebrew the word is a sentence: “God is with us.” If you were to look for a one-word summary of all the Bible has to say, a one-word statement of the center around which our lives are meant to turn, you could do no better than Emmanuel. The creator God, who accompanies the galaxies on their paths through the reaches of space, has come to live among us as one of us. The invisible Lord is now seeable: an infant, waving tiny arms and blinking in the light. What humility! And what faithfulness! Having come among us, God is with us to stay. God is with us—by the Spirit, in us—along the road that each of us is traveling in this world, all the way to the end and beyond. For the residents of first-century Nazareth, God was just down the street. For all of us now, God is much, much closer than that. —Living with Christ
“Let the Lord enter; He is king of glory.”
