    Celebration of the Life of

Mother Flourine Jones... Flourine Joneswas born on September 22, 1930 in Brookhaven,MS. She was the 16th born of 17 children to William and Arzelia Dunn. She was the

baby girl and her fathers heart. She was preceded in death by her mother Arze-lia, father William, 15 brothers and sisters and her grandson Javontae Reed. Finalhomegoing services were held on August 13th at Greater Garfield Missionary BaptistChurch, 3757 W. Douglas Blvd., where Rev. George Henderson is Pastor.

Flourine had little formal education but was blessed with wisdom and insightfrom God so that she was able to stand and present herself admirably in any crowd. She was blessed by God and a much sought after teacher and presenter.

She accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Mount Olive BaptistChurch. In 1948, while serving as an usher, she caught the eye of Robert Lee Jones. In 1950, they were married and in 1954 they moved to Chicagos south side.

Flourine united with the Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church and then onDecember 14, 1969 joined the Greater Garfield Missionary Baptist Church under theleadership of Rev. Governor Powell. She was an active member of Greater Garfieldand served in many capacities. She served as Sunday School teacher, Baptist Train-ing Union teacher, Vacation Bible School teacher, choir member, nurses aids mem-ber, president of the Mothers Board, President of the Good Shepherd and member ofthe Missionary Society. She also served on the kitchen staff and chaired many com-mittees; including the annual prayer breakfast and other church fundraising events.

Flourine always wanted six children and thats exactly what God blessed herwith: three boys and three girls. She loved her family and she also extended that

love to all children that she met, young or old. Flourine was always very involvedwith her childrens education, becoming a parent volunteer for not only her six chil-dren but later for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She loved the Lord and served Him with her whole being. She believed in wor-shipping no matter what anybody else was doing. Up until her death she danced forthe Lord. God called His servant home on August 7th doing what she loved--servingGod and nurturing children. On Sunday, she attended Baptist Training Union, taughther Sunday School class, assisted with devotion and helped her pastor serve com-munion. She sat down and took her great-grandbaby in her arms. Then God calledher home.

Flourine leaves to mourn her passing:her loving husband, Robert L.

Jones; a brother, Melvin Dunn, Waterloo, Iowa; daughters Dianne (Robert)Jackson, Joann Jones, and Sharonda Jones; sons Robert (Latese) Jones,Derrick (Kendra) Barnes and Cedric Jones; grandchildren LaDon White,LaDarron, Lanard, TaQuan, Charlette, Darrell, Ariel, Elejha, Deandre, Chris-topher Travis, Traveesha, Morgan, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins,in-laws, her pastor, friends, neighbors and church members.
