WORLD ECONOMY AND GLOBALTRADE KEY FEATURES AND FACTS
Value of Trade Declines
Global trade value contracted 13.8% in 2015, considering that total trade by volume grew at 2.5%
(Source: CPB). Much of the decrease in world trade values is being driven by the fall-off in com-
modities and fuel prices and not the total volume of trade.
Global growth, downside risks dominate
Risks to the global outlook remain tilted to the downside: signifi cant slowdown in emerging mar-
kets, China’s fragile balances, lower commodity prices, and volatility in currencies. If these key chal-
lenges are not successfully managed, global growth could be derailed.

Emerging markets, a risk to the global economy?
Russia and Brazil are showing serious growth problems and their economies may shrink further in
2016. India's economic performance is the opposite, and GDP growth will climb from just above 7%.
Emerging market economies account for about 60% of global GDP and have contributed more than
80% of global growth in recent years. But today they can turn into a large asymmetric risk factor as
falling commodity prices, slowing growths, mounting fi nancial vulnerabilities.

TURKISH ECONOMY AND TRADE KEYFEATURES AND FACTS
PAGDER expect GDP growth of 4.5% for 2016
The increase in export and manufacturing industry in late 2015 and at beginning of 2016, will pull
up the GDP growth for 2016. However, the fragility of the country's economy is not yet considered
whether to have lost its eff ect is expected to cautious growth.
8.7% decline in exports in 2015
Clashes in the region and the decline in the euro-dollar parity has led to a shrinking instead of
export growth. We expect that Turkish exporters will be in search for new markets to penetrate in
2016 so as to compensate for the previous year. As the fragility of the region will continue, we ex-
pect a considerably measurable recovery and increase in export.

14.4% decline in imports in 2015
Decline in oil prices is the most important reason for the decline in imports. We anticipate that it will
continue the slowdown in imports in 2016. Expected limited growth in economic activity will restrain
the demand for import.
