    A major role in popularising the percussion ensemble art form.

    An exponent of percussion instrument Thimila.

    Eminent writer and historian of rich Indian architecture.

    His books on Jain and Hindu mandirs are well-known among international scholars.

    15. Mallika Sarabhai

    A well-known activist and performer from Gujarat in India. The daughter of classical danseuse Mrinalini Sarabhai and renowned space scientist

    Vikram Sarabhai.

    Mallika is an accomplished Kuchipudi and Bharatanatyam dancer.

    Mallika Sarabhai announced her candidature against L K Advani for the GandhinagarLok Sabha seat, as an independent candidate

    teacher, a great administrator and motivator.

    22. Moosa Raza

    In his Chennai home, Moosa Raza, a 1960 batch Gujarat cadre IAS

    He became the principal secretary to the chief minister of Gujarat, and later got shifted toJammu and Kashmir and served as the chief secretary of that state.

    Moosa Raza was handpicked by the National Commission for Minorities (NCM) to lead

    a goodwill mission to Kashmir to facilitate the return of Kashmiri Pandits to their hearthsand homes in the Valley.

    He has been director general of India Islamic Cultural Centre in New Delhi

    23. P.R. Dubhashi (An administrator-turned author and trainer)

    PR Dubhashi, 1953 batch Karnataka cadre IAS, appointed as a secretary in Prime

    Ministers Office (PMO) later became an authority on public administration

    Penned a number of books on various facets of Indian civil service.

    His books included, Administrative Reforms (1986) and Policy and Performance:

    Agricultural and Rural Development In Post-independence India.

    24. Fareed Zakaria:

    Fareed Rafiq Zakaria (born January 20, 1964) is an Indian-American journalist and

    author Writes a regular column forNewsweek, which also appears in Newsweek International

    and fortnightly in the Washington Post. Hosts an international affairs program, Fareed

    Zakaria GPS, airs Sundays worldwide on CNN.

    His father, Rafiq Zakaria, was a politician associated with the Indian National Congress

    B.A. degree from Yale University later earned a Ph.D. degree in Political Science fromHarvard University in 1993

    25. Anil Bordia

    Mr. Anil Bordia was born in Indore in India in 1934 and was educated at Udaipur inRajasthan and the University of Delhi. In 1957 he entered the IAS

    Joined Indias federal Ministry of Education as Joint Secretary in 1974 and in 1977 was

    appointed to the position of Director-General of Indias National Adult Education

    Programme. Mr. Bordia taught at the UNESCO International Institute for Education Planning (IIEP)

    Paris between 1980 and 1982.

    Anil Bordia was Indian Education Secretary between 1987 and 1992 and had theopportunity to implement the new education policy

    The Rajasthan project is called Lok Jumbish, which means Peoples Movement for

    Education. This project, recognized as an exceptionally innovative and successfulproject was started by Mr. Bordia.

    In 2001 he started another innovative project called Doosra Dashak(literally, the second

    decade) which is for education and development of persons in the 11-20 age group.

    26. Prof. Bipan Chandra Born 1928, an Indian historian, specialising in economic and political history of modern

    India.

    Chandra was born in Kangra Valley, Himachal Pradesh.

    He set up the journal Enquiry

    Presently, he is the Chairman of the National Book Trust, New Delhi

    National Book Trust: National Book Trust, (NBT) is an Indian publishing house,

    founded in 1957 as an autonomous body under the Ministry of Education within theGovernment of India.
