Approach to Instrument AIV: Integration, Qualification and Testing
•Integration of Instrument Subunits takes place at the individual manufactureres of the respective Subunit. Integration of PACS Units for Instrument testing takes place at MPE under it‘s responsibility.
• Qualification of Instrument Subunits and Units (performance and environmental qualification) is verified by the individual manufacturers before delivery of a Unit to MPE. Delivery reviews will be held.
• PACS Instrument Integration and Testing starts with the delivery of Units, acceptance of a Unit is based on a complete ADP and Incoming Inspection Plan.
•AIV program and updated flow charts (giving the status at the time of IHDR) will be included in AIV Plan PACS-ME-PL-018-issue1.
• Verification of PACS instrument performance is done by MPE and is based on Instrument Level Tests (ILTs) according to PACS-ME-PL-012-issue2. Test flows and schedules will be specified for all individual PACS models.
• Verification of PACS instrument performance requirements is assured by tracing the specifications listed in the PACS Calibration Document PACS-MA-GS-001 to the individual test steps carried out during ILT.

Content of Instrument Verification Documents
3 documents specify the PACS AIV activities on Instrument Level. The basic DDVP PACS-ME-PL-002 will not be updated any more as the general development programs are completed and remaining activities concentrate now on solving a few specific problems
• Instrument AIV Plan, describes general assembly organization, integration concept and integration sequences, but does not include the ILT related details; update to PACS-ME-PL-018 iss.1 is due
• Instrument Test Plan, covers all test activities and all test related AIV, shows the verification control matrix w.r.t. instrument models and instrument performance; update to PACS-ME-PL-012 iss.2 is due
• PACS Calibration Document, PACS-MA-GS-001 draft7 is getting permanently refined and will be used to relate instrument performance specifications to certain ILT test steps (verification control document),PCD requirements traceability matrix will be included in issue 2 of Test Plan

PACS IHDR MPE 12/13 November 2003
Compatibility of CQM+AVM Test Program with current test time limitation
• Fairly comprehensive CQM characterisation program can be carried out
• CQM schedule is very tight because start date is dictated by late deliveries of subunits and a quite pressing delivery date of AVM and CQM to ESA
• Proposed 25 % shortening of CQM ILT program compared to PFM ILT program is achieved by reducing the test parameter space and not doing a perfect wavelength calibration with TUFIR facility
results in less information concerning calibration accuracy, e.g., linearity, wavelength accuracy, sample points in calibration curves etc.
provides a good information on design verification and instrument characterisation (but, search for spectral ghosts in the FPU spectrometer section is not possible).
maintains the chance of not missing a last feed-back to a PFM FPU improvement (e.g., baffling)
