Definition

• The definition of “Internet” according to the internet: • A global computer network providing a variety of

information and communication facilities, consisting of interconnected networks using standardized communication protocols.

Domain names and IP Addresses Domain names are the part of the network

address that identifies the site as belonging to one particular domain. An IP address is a sequence of numbers that identifies each computer and communicates over a network

They both identify particular things on the internet like websites or computers.

Data packets and packet - switching Data packets are units of data that have been

changed to a single package that travels on a particular network path.

Packet-switching is a type of network where small units of data called packets are put through a network based on the destination address contained within each packet.
