IMPORTANT SAFETY INFORMATION FORCUSTOMERS AND PERSONS PERFORMING
MAINTENANCE
The “Blue Book” provides information concerning spare parts for
refuse trucks manufactured by McNeilus Truck and Manufacturing, Inc., as
well as for refuse trucks manufactured by other original equipment
manufacturers.
In performing maintenance on your refuse truck, you should carefully
review and thoroughly understand the recommended and required
maintenance procedures in any manuals provided by the original
manufacturer of your refuse truck, including, but not limited to, parts books,
owner manuals, operator’s manuals, maintenance manuals, and/or service
manuals. Such publications should be carefully checked for the original
equipment manufacturer’s recommended and required maintenance
procedures and instructions as well as all applicable DANGER, CAUTION,
AND WARNING NOTICES. For example, if you are going to perform
maintenance on a refuse truck manufactured by McNeilus Truck and
Manufacturing, Inc., be sure to review the appropriate manuals for your
refuse truck. Similarly, you should check the manuals supplied by the
original equipment manufacturer for any other brand of refuse truck on
which you are going to perform maintenance or service.
In addition to manufacturer-supplied manuals or publications, you
should also review and thoroughly understand all procedures, including but
not limited to, safety procedures, required by the United States Occupational
Safety and Health Administration (O.S.H.A.) and those of any other
governmental regulatory body that may pertain to the work that you are
intending to perform.
Ordering Parts for your McNeilus Refuse Truck
Original McNeilus parts are specially engineered and designed with carefully specifiedsteels. These steels are tested for quality and consistency in both chemistry and strength. They meet exacting requirements for each particular application. Welding processes aremonitored and tested for quality and integrity. Each type of weld is carefully andconsistently applied to insure the least amount of steel texture change for maximumstrength. Even the type of welding wire is specially ordered to meet the requirements ofthe particular application. There are many imitators out there without design analysis, engineering or CAD-CAM capabilities of McNeilus. Often times their parts lookidentical. However, without the same steel specifications, welding procedures and exactdesign requirements, these imitations are not the same as McNeilus original parts. Insome cases, in addition to not lasting as long, they can cause genuine safety hazards. They may expose you, your employees or your customers to injury or worse.
