As the bullet hits the plate, the hard

ceramic strike face begins to break up the

bullet while the ballistic material begins

to absorb the energy of the penetration.

Ceramic plates are designed to stop

rifle rounds and armor-piercing rounds

which have a penetrating steel pin in

the bullet. Plates are engineered by

bonding a layer of ceramic to a hard

panel made of multiple layers of ballistic

material wrapped in a fabric covering.

The round continues to break apart as

the ballistic material extracts energy,

decelerating the projectile and catching

the fragments while limiting the effect

of blunt trauma, the injury caused by an

impacting bullet.

Helmet provides maximum Level IIIA protection with an ergonomi-

cally designed construction that allows full range of motion and

improved interface with body armor. The helmet’s Neoprene harness

system is specially padded to mold and conform to the shape of the

wearer’s head while minimizing shock from ballistic, fragmentation and

blunt trauma impacts.

The TC Helmet is considered the lightest ballistic helmet available

on the market today; at about 2lbs, it provides the utmost in pro-

tection and comfort. The shell trim has an extra wide, eye port

opening which allows maximum peripheral vision and it comfortably

accommodates all known gas masks and goggles. The neck trim line

provides maximum protection while allowing uninhibited movement

when wearing most ballistic vests with collars. A user friendly quick

release mounted on the left side of the wearer’s head will facilitate

easy on, easy off use, with no interference when sighting the indi-

vidual’s weapon for target acquisition.

The Advance Combat Helmet’s (ACH) specialized construction

provides a high level of ballistic protection. ACH provides larger

unobstructed views and increased hearing capabilities, which

leads to better situational awareness. The neck trim line provides

maximum protective coverage while allowing uninhibited movement

when wearing most ballistic vests with collars. The helmet’s reten-

tion system provides great stability and comfort, while allowing for

optimal ventilation and impact protection.

Protection Against Stab Threats

NIJ 0115.00 Standard for Stab Resistance

Body armor that is ballistic resistant does

not necessarily make it stab or puncture

resistant (and vice versa). Sharp edged

and hand made instruments with pointed tips

such as spikes, awls or shanks generally do not

need to tear the fabric to penetrate – it merely

moves the fibers aside. PACA utilizes a com-

bination of super fine, ultra-dense materials,

which prevent pointed objects from spreading

or moving the individual yarns to stop pene-

tration/puncture.

The NIJ rates body armor on resistance to hand-delivered stab threats – the NIJ 0115.00 Standard. Maximum pene-

tration of 0.28” / 7mm is allowed as serious injury is extremely unlikely with such a shallow wound. Also an “Over-test” is

applied, to push the breaking point of the armor, where 0.79” / 20mm of penetration is allowed. Ice-pick or improvised

“Spike” weapons testing is regularly conducted by PACA through its independent laboratories.
