P90X2 Foundat ion Phase: 3-6 weeks
I believe that the co-creator of P90X2, Steve Edwards gives the best description of P90X2
Foundation Phase. In his blog, “The Straight Dope“, Steve writes,
“Not foundation as in “base training” but as in your attachment to the earth. Working on the “you
can’t shoot a canon from a canoe” philosophy the aim of this program is to build you from the
ground up. You may think you have a good base from P90X but, I assure you, we are going to find
some weak areas and improve them. The two major areas of weakness in the human body, which
leads to probably 90% of sports injuries, are shoulder and hip instability. Solve this and non-contact
injuries will virtually disappear.”
Here is an excerpt from my own P90X2 Phase 1 Review:
“P90X2 Phase 1 is go ing to focus on your weaknesses, and those weaknesses are primarily go ing
to be balance and stability for most people, which involves your core. That is why you see so
many new pieces of equipment used in P90X2, like the medic ine balls , and stability ball. All o f these
tools along with brand new moves that you have never tried are absolutely go ing to challenge the
crap out of you! Every s ingle workout in P90X2 Phase 1 will force you to engage your core and
focus on keeping your balance during the move. This core strength and stability that you are
developing in the foundation phase is crucial for your success in the strength phase and especially
in the performance phase.
With workouts like X2 Core that focus on core strength while do ing moves that create instability,
you are going to get an incredible workout. And you also have X2 Balance & Power which will focus
on your balance during res istance moves. For example; do ing bicep curls and tricep extensions in
a warrior 3 position. And for those of you who arent yoga-savy…warrior 3 is done on one leg with
your torso parallel to the floor. Its difficult, lo l.”
P90X2 St rengt h Phase: 3-6 weeks
After building a so lid foundation of core stength and stabiliity in phase-1, phase-2 is go ing to take
some of your more common strength moves and add the element of balance to them.
You will be doing pushups in different variations on med-balls and balance balls . Pull-ups will
inc lude a gymnastic element to them. You are going to be working muscles that you didnt know
existed and therefore this phase is go ing to begin to develop abilities you thought you would never
have.
P90X2 Performance Phase: 3-4 weeks
This is where P90X2 really shines and this is where the doctors get involved. Harvard sports

P90X2 Nutrition Plan – P90X2 ReviewThis wouldn’t be a complete P90X2 review without covering all the bases…so lets talk food! The
P90X2 nutrition plan caters to vegans, vegetarians and those who want gluten-free options. The
P90X2 meal plan features 27 different diet guides in one, and it’s designed to fuel performance and
enhance recovery, both of which are essential for the type of fitness regimen that P90X2 offers.
If you’re planning to do the P90X2 workout program, make sure you’re prepared for the P90X2
nutrition plan with these tips:
Replac ing red meats and processed meats with lean chicken, turkey and other lean protein
sources
Eating s low-digesting carbohydrates with your protein (think whole grains, less processed =
better)
Ensuring all meals fit within your macros for the day
Eliminating white bread and sugar from the diet
Incorporating Shakeology into your daily meal plan
Drinking plenty of water throughout the day – ideally 1oz of water per lb of body weight
Tracking your nutrition with a program like myfitnesspal.com
P90X2 Equipment – What Do I NEED?Truthfully you can get away with just a towel, chair,
and a res istance band.
In each of the P90X2 workouts, you will see one
person doing all the moves with limited equipment.
This was on purpose so that the person who travels
often can still train like an elite athlete!
But lets take a look at what you can use to get THE
BEST results!
