What is culture? It is the creators (musicians, actors, poets, composers, painters, etc), their creations (paintings, music, sculptures, etc) and cultural environment. Culturalenvironment originates in the city square in the process ofinteraction of various culture forms - music, dance, theatreand visual arts.

What is science? It is universities, colleges, libraries, scientific labs and research centers. Also, it is the scientificenvironment, the communication of school children, students, teachers, university professors and researchers.

In our project the church annex will house a cultural centrewhere different art forms, i.e. dance, music and visual artsare placed in separate architectural volumes facing the mainspiritual symbol, St.Paul's church.

Architectural volumes are unified by the pattern of thefacades. The pattern is inspired by the music of Arvo Part, the music of minimalism, of the silence between the notes, purified from the worldly hustle and bustle.

The square is designed as an invitation to the streets tocontinue and eventually flow onto it. The street lines arefloods of energy streaming onto the square and forming thebuildings of the above-the-ground part which is comprised ofthe Scientific center (back burner, 11.000 square meters)and the area for walks, meetings, mass gatherings, celebrations and concerts.

The volumes of the Cultural centre merge with the volumesof the Scientific centre and together they form the citysquare, the symbol of unified Culture, Science andCommunication, the symbol of Civilization...
