What is a Styrenic Block Copolymer (SBC)?
SBC is a copolymer having two-phase structure of both hard segment and soft segment.
It behaves like an elastomer at ambient temperature and can be dissolved in solvents for blending and processing.

Elastomeric Roof Coating Performance Data

Radiative Properties Coatings made with Kraton SEBS polymers
exhibit excellent radiative properties. Testing
has shown best in class initial reflectance and
emittance. Samples prepared with the G1643
starting point formulation showed the following:
Reflectance: 0.89 ASTMC1549 Emittance: 0.88 ASTMC1371
Dirt Pick Up Resistance Coatings made with Kraton polymers:
exhibit excellent dirt pick up resistance for improved long term durability and
reflectance
have extremely low porosity and excellent water resistance
Water and stains cant penetrate the coating surface easily so coating
retains its color better
have excellent UV resistance in roof coatings and resist yellowing and staining
for better long term performance (G
grades)
Testing completed with coatings in an iron
oxide slurry for 500 hours show a roof
coating containing Kraton G1643 holds up
better than a typical acrylic formulation.
Acrylic standard G1643 coating
