India StoneMart 2015 kicked off with the Chief Minister's call to enhance the state's global standing on the international stone map.
India StoneMart 2015 was inaugrated by Smt. Vasundhara Raje, Chief Minister, Government of Rajasthan on th29 January, 2015.
Smt. Vasundhara Raje, Chief Minister, Government of Rajasthan called upon in her address the architects of the country to build cities that are smart, green and based on concepts. “Rajasthan's stone has a leading role to play as India sets out to build new cities,” she said.
She informed that the government had been taking a series of initiatives to streamline the existing governance parameters and formulate policy that supports investment. She further added that “Rajasthan's stone is India's eminent ambassador across the world and some of the finest monuments are built with it”.
Shri Gajendra Singh Khimsar, Industries Minister, Government of Rajasthan said that he was proud that the StoneMart was now among the top five stone events in the world. He further added that Rajasthan has contributed significantly to the growth of the Indian stone industry. The initiatives taken up by CDOS and RIICO have led to a tremendous growth in the production and export of natural stone. Our government is committed to providing all support for the sustainability of this sector.
Shri CS Rajan, Chief Secretary, Government of Rajasthan emphasised the need for stone mining to get more environment-friendly. “Fly ash has already found strong applications and the same needs to be done to marble slurry,” he said while calling upon the industry to take up medical care and skill up gradation of the large number of unorganised labour in the sector.

INAUGURATION
CONCURRENT EVENT - INDIA STONEMART 2015
The First edition of Jaipur Architecture Festival (JAF) was organised concurrent with India Stonemart 2015 at JECC during January 29 - 31, 2015. The theme of the festival was “Crafting Future Cities - A celebration of Future Cities, Architecture, Environment, Design, Heritage, Education and Rich Stone traditions”.
The three-day festival was organized by CDOS & FICCI in association with Council of Architecture and the Indian Institute of Architects (IIA) as esteemed knowledge partners. Institute of Indian Interior Designers – Jaipur Regional Chapter was the supporting partner of this event. IIA, Rajasthan Chapter also collaborated on the logistic support. The festival was curated and ideated by Artes, Chennai.
Over 250 architects, planners, designers, policy-makers, industry professionals and the student community discussed various aspects of Future Cities, Regional Development, Architecture and Stone Building Craft Traditions. The inter-disciplinary International Festival had over 2000 participants over the 3 days. Heritage walks in Jaipur, films and cultural programs were organised alongside the festival.

A historic SAARC meeting of Councils of Architecture was held during the festival. National Institute of Advanced Studies in Architecture (NIASA), held their Annual Masters Design Competitions organised by the Aayojan School of Architecture, Jaipur, which had several Schools of Architecture across India.
Shilpgram is a joint initiative of CDOS and RUDA.
Shilpgram is aimed towards providing a platform for artisans to showcase their talent and develop direct
business links with domestic and international buyers. With the opportunity of establishing direct linkages
and networking, artisans find it easier to sell their products to serious buyers and art connoisseurs.

All India Stone Architectural Awards were instituted by the Center for Development of Stones (CDOS).
An illustrious panel of prominent architects of the country - including Ar. Kapil Chitale, Ar. Paramjit S Ahuja, Ar.
Rajeev Kathpalia, Ar. Rohit Marol and Ar. Gyanendra Singh Shekhawat - chose some exceptionally talented
architects this year for a citation and cash prize of Rs 1 lakh in four categories.
