Public Masses were allowed to resume on May 18th. However, Bishop Spalding has extended the dispensation from the obligation to attend Sunday Mass through June 30. In order to adhere to the social distancing guidelines, we have added a Mass on Sunday and changed Mass times to 8:00 a.m., 10:00 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. Some guidelines to keep in mind are: Anyone who has been exposed to

COVID-19 should stay at home. Anyone who has symptoms of COVID-19

or other communicable diseases should stay at home.

Anyone in a high-risk group for COVID-19 should stay at home.

Anyone who has an inordinate amount of fear or anxiety regarding public Mass is encouraged to stay home.

Reading 1—Ex 34:4b–6, 8–9 Early in the morning Moses went up Mount Sinai as the LORD had commanded him, taking along the two stone tab-lets. Having come down in a cloud, the LORD stood with Moses there and proclaimed his name, “LORD.” Thus the LORD passed before him and cried out, “The LORD, the LORD, a merciful and gracious God, slow to anger and rich in kind-ness and fidelity.” Moses at once bowed down to the ground in worship. Then he said, “If I find favor with you, O LORD, do come along in our company. This is indeed a s ff-necked people; yet pardon our wickedness and sins, and receive us as your own.”

GRACE AND ETERNAL LIFE 

 Moses is a man a er our own hearts, for haven’t we all dealt with more than our share of s ff-necked people? Indeed, haven’t we all go en a li le s ff-necked ourselves at  mes? Complaining . . . impa-ent . . . quick to anger. How lucky for Moses—how 

lucky for all of us—that God is exactly the opposite! And we don’t even have to guess about it. The Lord tells us so directly. Accordingly, Moses does what we 

all need to do. Even with the tablets in hand, he bows down and asks for God’s forgiveness and grace. 

Encouraging us to live together in peace—and in God’s favor—the Apostle Paul knows all about this grace, joyfully invoking Christ’s grace on us along with God’s love and the Holy Spirit’s. “Rejoice,” he says. And when it comes to rejoicing, John offers us the gladdest words of all: the assurance of eternal
