at 914-667-7877. Cat Assistance is working
with the staff and the vol-
unteers at the shelter to
save as many cats and
dogs as we can. We are
limited in our efforts fi-
nancially as well as space
limitations. We have
saved over 50 dogs, and
cats in the past year. We
pull the animal and take it
to our vet for exams,
shots to be spayed or
neutered if it needs to be
and I would say that 9 out
of 10 times these animals
need to be. We then pro-
mote them on our website
and through the internet
or in some cases we
place ad. On aver-
age we take in about
twenty cats and six
dogs every month.
We place all the
dogs and 1/2 of the
cats that we take in.

Surprise Package Left at Church
On a Friday evening we got a call from the White
Plains Calgary Baptist Church saying that someone
had abandoned a cat in an IKEA bag. I told them they
could bring the cat to Central Animal Hospital. When
they dropped off the cat it turned out to be a pure-
bred Sphynx. We named her Ikea and brought her to
our adoption event and she quickly found a home.

A great way to help us raise funds
One of our supporters suggested a great way to help Cat Assis-
tance. She sent out a letter to all of her friends and relatives
asking them to make a donation to Cat Assistance, an organi-
zation she supports. We love this idea. If you agree we can
supply you with return envelopes and copies of our newsletter
to include in the mailing so your friends can learn more about
the great life-saving rescue work we do.

Help Save Lives
Catassistanceny.org
Pair of Cats Saved by Cat Assistance Betty and Emerson were recently rescued from the NYC Animal Care and
Control a high kill city shelter. These cats were so stressed they refused to eat. Our vet needed to put in a feeding tube. After 2 weeks they finally began to respond. The vet bill was $1200. This is why we are always asking for donations . We need the funds to help us pay for our constant medical expenses.
With More Funds We Could Save More Lives!
Midget was rescued from the Mt.
Vernon animal shelter. We as-
sumed she was completely blind.
She went to our vet as well as a
specialist. Midget was posted on
our website and we had several
interested adopters. She was such
a fantastic kitten that everyone
wanted her. She was adopted by a
family in Hastings doing great and
is able to get around just fine.
Another Happy Tail!

a feisty kitten with a

break when Sarah from
Cat Assistance ar-
ranged for surgery to
removed his eye and
save his life. Named
Morris at first, he quick-
ly won hearts of foster
parents Layla Morgan
Wilde and Joel Sucher
who decided to give him
a new name Odin, to
break with his difficult
past. Odin is

quickly grew
in size and confidence.
Odin will be celebrat-

the beginning of June
which coincides with
his appearance on The

Animals Abandoned Due to Economy
Five cats left homeless when owner dies
middle of the night and
owed him over $3,000 in
back rent.
When he
walked
into the
apartment
he found
the two
Persians
and a Turkish Angora.
All the cats were in
deplorable shape not
spayed or neutered.
Both Persians were so
neglected they had to
be shaved down. All
three cats were taken
to our vet and were
lucky to have been
adopted.
In the last few months we
have gotten several calls
from landlords about

cats left in an apartment
in Port Chester were in
bad conditions.
The landlord told us the
