QSK50-DPM MASTER SKID Overview (Technical Package)

_________________________________________________________________________________________

PURPOSE This document provides technical information on the mechanical and electrical systems of the QSK50 Drilling Power Module Master Skid (QSK50-DPM MS) and shall be used in conjunction with engine and package specific Application Engineering Bulletins (AEBs) published on the Global Customer Engineering (GCE) website (http://gce.cummins.com).

INTRODUCTION AND OVERVIEW The QSK50-DPM MS was developed by the Cummins Center of Excellence (COE) to meet land based drilling requirements in the Oil & Gas (O&G) industry. The QSK50-DPM MS utilizes a Cummins QSK50-DPM capable of generating 60 Hz of electrical power at 1,200 rpm. For more information, refer to PGD 31.01 – QSK50-DPM Power Module Overview. Also, the Master Skid offers a complete solution which may include genset base rails, canopy, walls, air and fuel connections and routing, and ancillary skids for air equipment.

The product structure is accessible through the Central Product Information File (CPIF), options available for ordering in Cummins Online Specifications (COLS), and service documentation in Cummins Quickserve Online (QSOL). The configuration number for this product is D0Y0008GX03 and the COLS PRIC spec is PRIC07761. Follow AEB 20.12 – Installation Quality Assurance (IQA) Procedure for each new QSK50-DPM MS installation to ensure that all Cummins and OEM installation requirements are met. Direct questions regarding the document contents to Application Engineering at the COE.

DISCUSSION This section provides a comprehensive description of the QSK50-DPM MS subsystems, installation requirements, and installation recommendations. The QSK50-DPM MS can be divided in two categories: genset skid and ancillary skid. The genset skid contains the following subsystems:

1. Cooling system 2. Base rails 3. Canopy

4. Walls/Enclosures 5. Fuel, air, and exhaust plumbing and connections

1. Cooling System The COE offers a remote and an engine driven radiator option (Figure 3). Both options contain three (3) cores: LTA circuit, jacket water circuit and fuel cooler.

2. Base Rails The genset skid for the QSK50-DPM MS (Figure 4) contains a cable tray for load bank cables, fuel hoses box and Stage 1 fuel filter mounting bracket, radiator mounting locations, QSK50-DPM mounting locations, a grounding plate for the QSK50-DPM, five (5) Master Skid grounding locations (Figure 6), air starter plumbing, and a battery box. A rupture basin is built into the genset skid which allows for fluids to be collected and a drain piping system allows for fluids to be drained in two (2) locations: front and rear of the sump. QSK50-DPM MS base rails provide towable capabilities for transportation (Figure 5). The COE offers two different base rails sizes: a 32-foot long x 10-foot wide x 11.5-foot high and a 40-foot long x 10-foot wide x 11-foot high skid.

3. Canopy A canopy is built into the QSK50-DPM MS (Figure 7). In addition to providing protection against the elements, it includes a gutter system to help with rain drainage. DOC mounting features and lighting are also included.

4. Walls/Enclosures The QSK50-DPM MS has the provisions to include optional walls or enclosures to protect the equipment from the elements (dust, snow, rain, etc.). The walls contain sets of louvers to ensure adequate air flow inside the room (Figure 8). Personnel doors are located on each side of the outer skids to allow for access and equipment servicing. Walls are currently only available for the 40-foot long skid.

5. Fuel, Air, and Exhaust Plumbing and Connections QSK50-DPM MS genset skids include fuel and air starting systems plumbing and connections as well as exhaust connections (Figure 9 and Figure 10). If a dual fuel setup is planned to be used, customers normally provide a Diesel Oxidation Catalyst (DOC) and bellows for the exhaust system to be installed by the COE. Otherwise, a muffler is included in a diesel only setup.

Ancillary Skid The ancillary skid on the QSK50-DPM MS (Figure 11) includes additional equipment according to customer needs. Most of this equipment is normally procured by the customer and installed by the COE. It includes, but it is not limited to, air compressor equipment, air equipment installation hardware, air equipment installation features, cable tray, cable tray hardware, fuel and air tubing, fuel and air flexible tubing, quick disconnect fittings, and lighting. For more information on options available and design considerations, contact Application Engineering at the COE.
