People reached across 14 states through ‘Project PSP (Protect. Secure. Preserve.)’ COVID-19 Response 2020 by Oxfam India 35,043 139,239

People affected by COVID-19 diseases across 32 states of the country

3,000 meals in Kerala, 1,705 meals in 3 districts of Chennai, 31,685 meals in Delhi, 1,609 meals in the slums of Mumbai was provided by Oxfam India and its local partners SVS, EFRAH, BLESS, KSSS. 1,500 migrant workers in Ahmedabad supported with hot cooked meals for 14 days through a community kitchen in collaboration with partner Paryavaran Mitra.

1,450 in Jharkhand, 1,808 in Uttar Pradesh, 2,100 in Odisha, 20 in Tamil Nadu, 542 in Maharashtra, 674 in Kerala, 5829 in Delhi, 2450 in West Bengal , 2,070 in Bihar, 1,485 in Chhattisgarh.

Food for thought48,250 meals served to migrant workers stranded at various locations.

18,428 dry food ration kits distributed to the most marginalized, vulnerable communities

2,785 PPE kits were handed over to the government hospitals, health department, district administration, hospital workers in Kerala, Maharashtra, Bihar, Haryana and Delhi.

Safeguarding the people in the frontline

Oxfam India is working with diverse groups of people who are affected by the COVID-19 situation. This includes migrant workers, Adivasi communities, Dalits, Persons with Disability, transgenders, tea garden workers, people living in slums, people who are not covered under NFSA.

SOCIAL SOLIDARITY AMIDST PHYSICAL DISTANCING

Text messages on COVID-19 response and Government entitlement sent through WG-CAN website to atleast 24234 people. At least 13 CSOs and 5625 new volunteers added.

Building digital bridges

5 Million People reached through the mobile van units and public service advertisements. Demonstration on the six steps of hand washing was done during each distribution across the states.

Spreading the message

Oxfam India partnered with 40 civil society organizations across 14 states. Most of these organizations are our previous or existing partners. Our partners are working with the most marginalized and vulnerable groups.

The power of partners Established close relations with educational institutes like Lucknow University, TISS, NIMHANS for knowledge building and sensitization of key functionaries. Strategic partnerships held with Department of Health in UP, Bihar, Maharashtra, Delhi and Haryana,

Advocacy, influencing and strategic partnership

Oxfam’s response focuses on ensuring that women and girls have the right to access relief. We have reached elderly women, women with disability, women daily wage earners with relief in the form of dry food. We are using the gender lens to analyze the situation and develop gender inclusive programming.

Gender at the heart of everything

More than 498 Oxfam staff, partner staff and volunteers from 11 states have been provided orientation on COVID-19 focusing on self-protection and protection of others, Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) response, Gender, Social Protection and EFSVL

Training the trainers

(Emergency Food Security and Vulnerable Livelihoods) and Community Engagement in the COVID-19 context. Online training has been provided to 17 state participants and 566 participants.

District Administrations in all the response states. Coordination with IAG, Sphere India and other state and national level institutes for strategic interventions.
