Owning a Pet

Question 1Have you always had a pet?
• 1. Yes, since before I was born.
• 2. No, I got my first pet when I was about 4 years old and have had it ever since.
• 3. Yes, my family had a pet before I was even born.
• 4. No, I have had pets sporadically through out my life.
Question 2Why/how did you get a pet?
• 1. I grew up having pets and have loved them ever since. When I was a teenager I worked at the Humane Society and would bring every one home that didn’t get adopted (Dad didn’t like that too much).
• 2. When I was little I was offered a bird and I thought it would be cool to have a pet so I begged Mom to let me get one and she caved.
Q2 Continued…• 3. I had dogs growing up and once I tried
to get a cat but that didn’t last very long, turns out I’m allergic.
• 4. Growing up the only pet I was allowed to have was a dog. When I got older my wife forced me to have pets.
Question 3What types of pets have you owned?
• 1. I’ve owned practically everything. Dogs, cats, bunnies, hamsters, mice, a monkey, fish, birds, turtles, frogs, hermit crabs.
• 2. The only pet I’ve ever had is my bird.
• 3. The only types of pets I’ve ever owned were dogs.
• 4. My main pets have been dogs and cats.
Question 4What is the importance of having a pet?
• 1. They’re the closest thing there is to God.
• 2. She (bird) always puts a smile on my face. Off the record she’s the only woman who’s never made me feel bad.
• 3. They’re always happy to see me when I come home and I can expect them to understand when no one else does.
• 4. Unconditional love and companionship.
Similarities Differences
• Most have owned dogs.
• Most have always owned some type of pet through out their life.
• All think they give unconditional love.
• Wide variety of pets.• One was forced to
own pets.
