Owner‘s Manual May 2018
Once per year, our Venice Regional Chapter of the
Antique Automobile Club of America (AACA) holds
an annual member Appreciation Day and Breakfast
and all members are invited, at no charge. We refer to
it as Breakfast At The beach.
Again, this year, it was held, under cover, in the Pavil-
ion at Maxine Barrett Park by the shore of the Gulf of
Mexico. A stiff Gulf
breeze whisked through
the Pavilion for most of
the event causing some
loose objects to go fly-
ing, let alone all mem-
bers with previously
coiffed hair. The event
“officially” was from 9 am to Noon but members
started streaming in early to get good seats and con-
verse with friends. Preceding them, their transporta-
tion, were many of their classic and antique vehicles.
A nice car show for those in the Club and passers-by.
A lot of planning was done to make the event a suc-
cess with encouragement to all members to sign up in
advance to ensure sufficient food.
A final total number of 128 humans
and a couple puppies made the
event. Everyone was fascinated to
arrive and find the tables decorated
with centerpieces and hand-painted rocks. Yes, rocks.
The rocks are
referring to all of
many pieces of
artwork of
Karen Errico.
Those responsi-
ble for setting up
before the on-
slaught of mem-
bers, were
George and
Bunny Nubile,
Bev Arnold, Karen Errico, Tom and Diane Hen-
derson, Dennis and Jan Nubile, Keith and Vickie
Lewis and Larry and Lynn Slevin. Our illustr ious
leader and President oversaw the entire event.

April was a pretty active month for our Club. Our April 5th Board Meeting showed all officers
and directors engaged in some challenging new ideas as how to improve our Club. Up for discussion, as some of you heard at General Meeting, is changing our corporation status from a 510-c-3 NOT FOR PROFIT Corporation to a 501-c-3 NON-PROFIT Corporation. Our paperwork as such was completed and prepared by Lynn Slevin. The board approved of us moving forward and paperwork was given to our By-Law Committee for review and compliance with AACA regulations. On April 19th, the by-law committee met and determined that as soon as we get confirmation of how this is treated by other Regions and AACA national formatting of By-Laws, we can proceed going forward to adopt. Also, we determined the date we would invite all charitable donation recipients to our Club meeting. That date is June 11, 2018 for the presentation of their checks. The Venice Gondolier Sun Newspaper will be asked to participate in this event. The board was updated on the Historic Spanish Point Car Show to be held on May 6, 2018. It will be a $15.00 entrance fee to the show and will include entrance to the Park. See Keith Lewis for more information. Our general meeting was held on
April 9th and had 79 folks in attendance. The social dinner hour at Burgundy's on The Square had 35 people for dinner. It appears we have a new favorite restaurant for our members. Many compliments!! The post car show meeting was held on April 18th. In attendance were Keith Lewis, Dennis Nubile, George Nubile, Wyatt Rinker and Larry Slevin. There were many thoughts and idea's presented and discussed. One, is a more defining description of specific jobs and responsibilities during and before the Show by adding various committee's to take charge of the many aspects of our show. This should make the show more fluid. Breakfast at the Beach was “A BLUSTERY EVENT”, but none the less an epic success with 125 members signing up and 3 arriving unsigned (128). We fed 120 people. A big Thank You to ALL who participated. A special Thanks, to the Social Committee and to Member Ken Obeshaw for donating his artwork. * A reminder to everyone, this Club is growing at an accelerated rate and there are many volunteer positions we could use help with, even if you are a seasonal Club member*!! HAPPY MEMORIAL DAY TO ALL... President George C. Nubile 941-240-2428 [email protected]

Message From The President
Owner’s Manual 3 May 2018
HISTORICAL VEHICLE - submitted by Chuck Ford
The AMC AMX is a two-seat GT-style sports car that was produced
by American Motors Corporation for the 1968 through 1970 model
years. The AMX was also classified as a muscle car, but "unique
among other American muscle cars at the time due its short wheel-
base". To a degree, the AMX was a competitor with America's only
other two-seater of the era, the Chevrolet Corvette, for substantially
less money. Fitted with the optional high-compression medium block
V8 engine, the AMX offered top-notch performance at an affordable
price. In spite of this value and enthusiastic initial reception by auto-
motive media and enthusiasts, sales never thrived. However, the au-
tomaker's larger objectives to refocus AMC's image on performance
and to bring younger customers into its dealer showrooms was
achieved. After three model years, the two-seat version was discon-
tinued, and the AMX's now signature badging was transferred to a
high-performance version of its four-seat sibling, the Javelin, from the
1971 to 1974 model years.

AACA EVENTS AND INFORMATION
….Continued from front page.
Tom Henderson
was caught by
camera laying
over one table
holding down the
tablecloth due to
the wind. The
event was to bring
as many members
together in one
place with what turned out to basically be a four part
event. Club President, George Nubile presided and
gave a brief introduction.
First was the food, of course, catered by Affordable
Catering, as was plentiful so seconds could be had
for those with a decent appetite or the need for bacon.
Secondly, the swearing in of the 2018 Board Of Direc-
tors. They are: Treasurer, Larry Slevin; Director,
Gary Felker; Director, Chuck Duke; Director,
Chuck Ford; President, George Nubile; Director,
Norm Sinclair; Vice President, Diane Henderson;
Secretary, Reggie Foote and Director, Jim McCar-
thy (absent). Each Board member was presented
with new style name badges, which aside from the
requisite names, showed Board positions. Depending
on positions, Board members will serve out one or two
year stints. Volunteers all!
Thirdly, a 50/50 cash drawing was observed for those
that bought tickets. A total of $258.00 was taken in
with $129.00 going to the winner, Wayne Connor, and
same to Club. A total of $60.00 was donated to the
Breakfast by the unsung to help defray the cost.
Fourth highlight was a drawing where each attendee
was handed a free numbered
ticket. Long time Club member, Ken Obeshaw, do-
nated several of his works of art. Inclusive were two
crystal lamps and many of his unique paintings. Num-
bers were drawn by President, George Nubile, one by
one, with the assistance of Secretary, Reggie Foote,
with the first picked having the choice of the table.
The Board of Directors want to thank the kindness of
Ken and Jan Obeshaw. This is the second time that
Ken has donated his fine artwork to Club members. A
little piece of Ken's work may be hanging or lighting
up in some of our homes. Thanks again Ken!!

...Continued from previous page.
It was brought to our attention, that Club member,
Frank Royer, was chosen to par ticipate in the
Honor Flight to Washington, D.C. to attend the
Ceremony on April 24th. He will be accompanied
by the Post Commander of the VFW 12055
Braden River, who will act as his guardian on
this flight. Frank served in the Korean War from
1953 to 1955 in the U.S. Army stationed in Ger-
many as part of the Occupational Troops. Frank
will share his experience at an upcoming General
Meeting as a guest speaker. We look forward to
Frank sharing his experience.
Though this author pointed out four main events,
there were numerous from the Car Show to the
puppies wondering what the heck was going on.
Was that rain I felt on my leg?
As with many events, several members were kind
enough to take photographs of the breakfast.
Group photographer was Wyatt Rinker, our dedi-
cated Editor of our Newsletter, the Owner's Manu-
al. Rich Albrecht was seen taking photos as well.
I can only imagine just how many photos were
taken overall now that almost everyone carries a
gadget capable of taking photos in their pockets
and purses. As with any many-faceted event with
such a large gathering (a record by the way), I
may have missed something or someone and I
apologize and hope that we can all look forward
to another Breakfast At The Beach here in Para-
dise! Kudos to Mona Hynch, George Nubile, Wy-
att Rinker and the many others that contr ibut-
ed to this article.

Have you heard of Collector Car Companion? Did you know its run by one of our own
Venice AACA members?
This is a great tool and is
being offered FREE to our Club
Members by fellow member John
McKeon. ~WR
Collector Car Companion is an
innovative web-based tool that will
help you organize, document and
track your collector vehicles. Col-
lector Car Companion helps you
plan your work, catalog your parts, track your costs and suppliers, organize your photos, and
document your progress on all types of projects, from routine maintenance to full blown res-
torations and everything in between. You can use Collector Car Companion for all sorts of ve-
hicles including classics, antiques, customs, hot rods, resto-mods, whatever. And it’s just as
useful for other types of collector vehicles like motorcycles, boats, airplanes, tractors, etc.
How is Collector Car Companion used?
Collector Car Companion is organized around how you
normally work. It uses the strip-down, restore, replace
and assemble workflow we are all accustomed to when
working on our vehicles. And Collector Car Compan-
ion is flexible enough to match the way you want to
work. Maybe you want to track every nut and bolt on a
frame-off restoration. Collector Car Companion can do
that for you. Or maybe you just want to document ma-
jor sub-assemblies on an engine rebuild. Collector Car
Companion can do that for you as well. You determine
how much detail you want to capture and Collector Car
Companion adjusts to the way you want to work.
Venice AACA members can get a free subscription to
CCC by going to CollectorCarCompanion.com and
entering the promo code VeniceAACA2018. Just a
small thank you to our Club and its members for every-
thing you do for Venice and the surrounding area.
