CushionandCoverMatching:Thecushionandcovermustbecompatiblesizesandmustbeusedasdirectedinthismanual(InstructionsforUse).Iftheyarenot,thebenefitsprovidedbythecushionmaybedecreasedoreliminated,whichincreasesrisktotheskinand/orsofttissue.Further,itmayincreasetheriskofinstabilityandfalling.

CushionandCoverOrientation:AStarCushionmustbeusedwiththeaircellsfacingup.Ifthecushionisnotfacingup,orthecoverisnotusedcorrectly,itmayreduceoreliminatethecushions’benefitsandcouldincreaserisktotheskinandothersofttissue.

Under-inflation:DONOTUSEanunder-inflatedcushion.Insufficientinflationorlossofcushionairmaycauselackofbodysupport.Itisimportantthatyouareimmersedintothecushion,butnotrestingonthebaseorbottomofthecushion,asitcanresultinpeakpressureareas.Prolongedexposuretopeakpressurescouldincreaseriskofbreakdowntotheskinandothersofttissue.

Over-inflation:DONOTUSEanover-inflatedcushion.Ifthecushionremainsover-inflatedfordailyuse,thebodywillnotimmerseintothecells,whichmayreduceoreliminatetheproduct’sbenefits,andincreaseriskofbreakdowntotheskinandothersofttissue.

Climate:Ifacushionhasbeenintemperatureslessthan32°F/0°Candexhibitsunusualstiffness,allowthecushiontowarmtoroomtemperature.Then,kneadthecushionwithyourhands,orrollupthecushionandthenunrollit(withthevalveopen)untiltheneopreneissoftandpliableagain.Repeatproperadjustmentinstructionsbeforeusing.Avoidextremeheatandkeepawayfromheatsources,hotashes,oropenflames.

Pressure:Changesinaltitudemayrequireyoutoreadjustyourcushionforproperinflation.Checkinflationeachtimeyouchangealtitude.

Puncture:Inordertopreventyourcushionfrombeingpunctured,keepyourcushionawayfromsharpobjects.

PersonalizingtheInflationofYourCushion:

5. Removepumpfromcushionvalveandquicklyclosevalvetipbylightlyturningclockwise.

8. Nowplaceyourhandbetweenthecushionandyourboniestprominence,usuallyyourischials.

9. Openthevalveandbeginslowlylettingairescapefromthecushion.Asairescapes,useyourfingersasaguidetoestimatedistancebetweenyourboniestprominenceandthebaseofthecushion.

10. Continuereleasingairuntilyouarepositionedapproximately

CoverUseandRemoval:EveryStarCushioncomeswithafittedcovertohelppreventthecushioncellsfromexpandingbeyondthelisteddimensionsofthecushionandtoaidinslideboardtransfers.Thebottomofourcoversaremadeofnon-skidmaterial,withaddedVelcrostrips,tohelpkeepthecushionmoresecureinthechair.Tocoveryourcushion:

1.Setthecoveronaflatsurfacewiththenon-skidmaterialfacingupwardandtheVelcroflapfacingyou.2.OpentheVelcroflapandinsertyourcushionintothecoverwiththeaircellsdown(ifasingleordualvalvecushion,thevalveswillgointothecoverfirst).3.ClosetheVelcroflapandturnthecushionoversocellsarefacingup.4.Makesurethevalve(s)comeoutofthecorner(s)ofthecoverforinflation/deflation.Yourcushionisnowreadyforuseaslongasithasbeenproperlyadjusted(seeInstructionsforUseinthismanual).5.Placethecoveredcushiononthechair.Thenon-skidmaterialwillbeonthebottom,withallaircellscovered,andthevalve(s)willbeshowingthroughthecorner(s).Pleasereferencethelabeloncushiontoverifythecushionispositionedonthechaircorrectly.

Toremovethecover:UndoVelcroflapandremovethecushionfromthecover.ReattachVelcrostripsbeforecleaningorinspectingthecoverfordamage.Replaceifnecessary.

CoverCleaningandDisinfectingInstructions:

Beforewashing,closecoverwithVelcrostrip!ToCleantheCover:Removethecover.Machinewashinwarmwater(max.140*For60*C)withamilddetergent,withlikecolors.NoBleach.Rinseincoldwaterandmachinedryonlowtemperatureorlinedry.ToDisinfecttheCover:Thecovercanbemachinewashedinhotwater(60°C)todisinfect.Tumbledrylow.StarCushionProducts,Inc.isnotresponsibleforanydamagethatmayoccurfromyourwashingmachineordryer.

CushionCleaningandDisinfectingInstructions:Beforecleaning/disinfecting,removethecushioncoverandwashseparately.Cleaningistheremovalofsoil,dirtandorganicmatterfromtheproduct.Disinfectingistheeliminationofpathogenicmicroorganisms.Cleaningmustprecededisinfection.

CoverUseandRemoval:EveryStarCushioncomeswithafittedcovertohelppreventthecushioncellsfromexpandingbeyondthelisteddimensionsofthecushionandtoaidinslideboardtransfers.Thebottomofourcoversaremadeofnon-skidmaterial,withaddedVelcrostrips,tohelpkeepthecushionmoresecureinthechair.Tocoveryourcushion:

1.Setthecoveronaflatsurfacewiththenon-skidmaterialfacingupwardandtheVelcroflapfacingyou.2.OpentheVelcroflapandinsertyourcushionintothecoverwiththeaircellsdown(ifasingleordualvalvecushion,thevalveswillgointothecoverfirst).3.ClosetheVelcroflapandturnthecushionoversocellsarefacingup.4.Makesurethevalve(s)comeoutofthecorner(s)ofthecoverforinflation/deflation.Yourcushionisnowreadyforuseaslongasithasbeenproperlyadjusted(seeInstructionsforUseinthismanual).5.Placethecoveredcushiononthechair.Thenon-skidmaterialwillbeonthebottom,withallaircellscovered,andthevalve(s)willbeshowingthroughthecorner(s).Pleasereferencethelabeloncushiontoverifythecushionispositionedonthechaircorrectly.
