The General Social Care Council has aresponsibility in developing codes of practice

for social workers and social care workers

The code of practice is a list of statementsthat describes the standards of professional

conduct and practice required in their daily

work

There are codes of professional conduct for

nurses and other health care workers

They describe the standards of professional conduct

and practice required of social care workers as they

go about their daily work

The code confirms the standards required in social

care and ensure that workers know what standards

of conduct employers, colleagues, service users,carers and the public expect of them

social care workers in meeting their code

Role of nurses:There are many roles for the nurses:

1. Care for patients

Basic nursing care

Keeping patients mobile to enhance limbs

and joint mobility

Prevent pressure sores

2. Work with doctors and other professional:

Nurses carry out many treatments prescribed

Has to monitor progress of patients to

ensure that recovery has no complications

3. Coordinate the care if patients: The nurse coordinate the work of all the team

members

Supervise the care given by nursingassistants

Supports the family in giving care to their sick

family member

4. Protect the patient:

Nurse protect the patients by ensuring the

environment is safe, prevent spread of infection

Protect patients dignity, and ensure privacy when

clothing need to be removed

Ensure that patient is physically safe ,that a patient

cannot slip and fall ,fall from bed or succumb to
