RECOLORING THE UNIVERSE CODING

As part of the Girls STEAM Ahead with NASA initia-tive, the library is offering “Recoloring the Universe,” a coding class open to all students. 3-D Theatricals is proud to be the Cerritos Center for the Performing Arts’ Broadway Performance Partner. Throughout June, 3-D Theatricals will present a display featuring costumes, props and set pieces from its vast collection. This display celebrates the American art form of musical theater.

43RD SUMMER READING PROGRAM: SPLASH INTO READING

Cerritos Library cardholders are invited to participate in the Library’s 43rd annual Summer Reading Program. Children, teens and adults are encouraged to join in the festivities and read throughout the summer to earn prizes. The program is sponsored by the Friends of the Cerritos Library, and the theme for this year is “Splash into Reading: Stay Cool, Read On.” The Cerritos Library congratulates Matthew Low and Aurelia Widjaja on win-ning the Summer Reading Program Bookmark Art Con-test. Their colorful artwork will be printed on bookmarks as one of the program’s prizes.

RegistrationOnline registration will be available from Monday,

June 12 through Sunday, June 18 on the Library’s website at cerritoslibrary.us and requires one valid Cerritos Library card per household. Participants who register online need to bring their Cerritos Library card to the Art Studio located in the Children’s Library during registra-tion week. Walk-in registration will be held Monday, June 19 through Sunday, June 25 in the Art Studio in the Children’s Library. Each participant must be present to register or their valid Cerritos Library card must be presented. In addition, each member of the family must be present to claim their grand prize. A separate form will need to be completed for each person who signs up for the program to receive their reading log.

Prizes and ProgramsChildren up to age 11 who read 30 minutes per day

are eligible for Summer Reading program prizes. Young adults, ages 12 to 17, and adults, ages 18 and older, must complete four books, either fiction or non-fiction, in any language. Prizes will be distributed while supplies last during Registration Week: June 19-June 25, June 26-July 2, July 3-9 and July 10-16; and Grand Prize Week: July 17-23. In addition, the Summer Reading Program will include various performers, activities and entertainment for the entire family to enjoy.
