1918: Dr. V is born October 1st in Vadamalapuram, Tamil Nadu India

1976 : Dr. V retires after over 20 years in government service, Aravind Eye Hospital starts as an 11-bed clinic in a rented house in Madurai

1981 : Aravind reaches 10,000 surgeries a year

1985 : Aravind’s second hospital opens in Theni

1988 : Aravind’s third hospital opens in Tirunelveli
