About REAP

The 4 lead schools of the Rural Excellence Action Project share proven strengths in core academic subjects whilst taking advantage of academy freedoms to promote a world-class curriculum that is innovative, broad and centred on achievement of high standards. Working with their 26 primary feeder schools with shared academic values, the partnership leads learning research, teacher training and innovation in the area. We provide every child with the best possible education regardless of their background or parent income, we set exactly the standards and plan and support student success. Teaching and Learning leadership development programmes run across the partnership at all levels from Headteacher through to technical support. In a climate of high trust we have been able to share and develop good practice in learning methodology, academic achievement and work place enjoyment. Supported by over 40 companies and working with multi-nationals enrichment from the REAP collaboration has ensured that all of our students are more employable and better prepared for life in the 21st century.

Chester and the REAP areaThe ancient Roman city of Chester is at the heart of Cheshire and the REAP partnership. A vibrant cultural and historical centre the city has its own University, Cathedral and unique architecture. London is reached in less than 2 hours by regular train service and Manchester and Liverpool in under an hour. The region is home to a large banking and finance centre and many successful businesses, including market leaders such as British Aerospace, Vauxhall, Jaguar Land Rover, Shell, ICI and Bentley. The sea coast and mountains of Snowdonia are a short drive away.

Collaboration, it turns out, is not a gift from the gods but a skill that requires effort and practice.Douglas B. Reeves

Music helps me create a personal bubble

where I can really concentrate on bringing

my learning together. Creativity is the

“click” when teaching, thinking, multi-media

research and my previous learning generate

new and unique thoughts.

Katie, Year 12

Creative learning is best when we question each other’s theories, have time to

reflect on our work, and can use different resources. You also need to be happy

and well. Nick and Robin, Year 8
