This assignment is about designing a space for Shakespeare’s Society. We did a lot of research to study how to create space. First, we did a performance analysis. We analyze the relationship between performance, stage, seats, music, lighting and so on. And then based on the analysis diagrams, we made several gesture models to help deliver the ideas we learned. My central word in this assignment is “Overlay”. So, all my works were focused on this word. I used paper and wire to test how can I apply the overlay to detailed and strustructure. Finally, I decided to use overlay as a boundary to imply people’s movement: like block the way or lighting. And I can also use the overlay to dene public and private: more layers mean more private. And based on the theater research and site research, I have a general idea about what programmatic space should a theater have and what the situation about the space we need to design. Combine all these things, I got the nal conceptual model.
