OSHAs Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) 29 Part 1910.179

requires the owners and operators of cranes to perform routine

inspections of their cranes and maintain a record of these

inspections. Repairs and maintenance performed on cranes are

also to be recorded.

This Crane Inspection & Maintenance Record book is provided

to help you meet this requirement. If you have any questions

Repair and Maintenance Record

Date Description of Work

The following items are to be inspected on a daily basis or for

less active cranes, prior to its use. Additional daily or monthly

checks may be required based on the type of crane and its use.

Consult the cranes owners manual for additional requirements.

Daily Inspections

All control mechanisms for adjustment and wear. All crane functions for proper operation.

All safety devices.

Crane hook, shackles, links, swivels and other components.

Wire rope condition and proper reeving.
