What is overnight oatmeal?

Overnight oatmeal is the delicious, easy solution for a high fiber, high protein, gluten-free and super healthy breakfast. It’s smooth, creamy, fast to make and has none of the texture of ordinary oatmeal. If you don’t like the texture of “regular oatmeal” this new stuff’s for you.

“Old Fashion” oats are about to get a makeover. Forget about this texture.

How does it work?

The night before, you simply add a portion of quick-cook oatmeal and your choice of plant milk (rice milk, almond milk, soy milk, cashew or hemp, etc) to your blender jar. Then, you let it just sit there in the fridge over night. In the morning, you’re ready to add your flavors (fruits, chocolate, nut-butters, spices, etc) and simply blend until smooth.Soaking the quick-cook oats over night makes them fluffy and soft. In the blender the next morning, they’re able to be easily pureed until smooth. There isn’t any oatmeal texture with this type of breakfast. You can’t do that with un-soaked oatmeal…the key is the wait!

This is what oatmeal looks like when soaked overnight. It’s pretty boring now but…

These are only a few examples of what it can become!

Why is overnight oatmeal such a great idea?

1. It’s a TRUE better-for-you breakfast . Most ‘healthy’ cereals still have higher levels of sugar than one might like. You can make great tasting overnight oatmeal with literally 0 added sugar…as long as you know the tricks.

2. It eliminates breakfast excuses: Because it blends within 30 seconds in the morning, no one can be in “too big of a hurry” to pick up “grab-n-go” overnight oatmeal.

3. It’s so versatile: It’s incredibly easy to get almost any flavor you’d like in overnight oatmeal. Chocolate peanut butter? You got it. Raspberry almond butter? Of course. Strawberry banana? That’s easy. Hot or cold, fruity or spicy, take your pick each day for fun. There are so many possibilities that you’ll never get bored.

Oat Nutrition

As the main ingredient of overnight oatmeal, it’s helpful to learn about the oat. They’re often overlooked, but oats are surprisingly nutritious. There’s 6 grams of plant protein per cup. They also have trace copper, manganese, magnesium, chromium and a little bit of biotin. (These are important nutrients that your body needs in small amounts)Oats are also rich in fiber, have b-vitamins, and have been studied to benefit blood sugar.

Beta Glucan?

Beta Glucan is a specific type of plant fiber in oats. It’s been studied since 1963 for its cholesterol lowering properties. This certain type of fiber is excellent at helping with cholesterol, and the more oats you eat, the more powerful it becomes. Keep the threat of bad cholesterol away naturally with delicious oats.

Anti-Oxidants

Anti-Oxidants are specific compounds usually found in plants that help fight free-radical damage. Free radicals contribute to general body wear and tear, premature aging, and some kinds of tissue damage. Anti-oxidants neutralize these bad guys, but people usually only think of them in fruits like blueberries and raspberries. But oats have their own! It’s called avenanthramides and they are cardio-protective as well as nicely bio-available.

Make Overnight Oatmeal Even Better

Now that you know how it works, and how healthy it is…how about making it even better? You can! You can increase the fiber, add calcium, magnesium, omega-3 healthy oils, b-vitamins and even complete plant protein when you add chia seeds to the mix.

The chia seed has no flavorIt doesn’t taste like anything at all, and it’s tiny. You won’t even notice it’s there.

The chia seed has 2 kinds of fiberBoth soluble & insoluble fiber combine in one tiny seed to bring you better blood sugar balancing (slows the conversion of carbs into sugars) feed beneficial bacteria (they eat soluble fiber & protect you from germs) and cause the liver to use up cholesterol making “bile acid” to help process the fiber as it moves through the intestines. Digestive hydration, regularity, better bacterial balance & diverticulitis prevention are all benefits when you use chia.

The chia seed is easyCan you scoop a measuring spoon & sprinkle? You can use chia.

Chia unlocks fat-soluble vitaminsGot something with A, K or E vitamins in it? You’ll need a healthy fat present at the time of digestion if you want to absorb any of these healthy-fat soluble vitamins. (Otherwise, the body ignores them) Fortunately, chia has omega-3 healthy oils to do just that.Go from great to extraordinary when you use chia in your overnight oats!

How About a Recipe?

Want something fruity, fun and available any time of the year? Here’s a recipe for the delectable peach-strawberry overnight oatmeal. The bright fresh flavor of the strawberries is a wonderful compliment to the sweet creamy peach.Because this has to sit over night, you can use frozen peach slices, and frozen strawberries if they’re not in season. Fresh fruit is best, but frozen means you can enjoy this any time of the year.

Did you Notice?

Did you see any chia seeds in the photo? No…because when they’re blended well, you can neither see nor taste them in this recipe…but they’re there all the same, doing powerful nutrition work for you.

There’s no added sugarNo high fructose corn syrup, no added sugar, just fruit, leaf-extract and real fresh flavor. That’s a lot more than almost any breakfast cereal, bagged oatmeal, or granola bar can say.

No added acids--Plant milkIt’s important to use plant milk, like rice, almond, soy, cashew or hemp. Dairy milk is acidic, and won’t blend the flavors as well. Plant milks are highly nutritious and each one brings different benefits for you. Choose your favorite & stay alkaline.

What is Recipe Power?

No one really regards recipes as powerful.Maybe that’s something that ought to change…After all, if eating healthy AND delicious food is easy it DOES have the power to change people’s lives for the better. Recipes have the power to change flavors, too. Look at this drink:

Would you believe it has a whole salad worth of spinach, but tastes like a chocolate shake? (It does! Through the recipe-power of food-combining)

What do you think would happen if everyone had a healthy breakfast every day? What if they missed all that sugar, bleached flour, and high fructose corn syrup, and instead had either fruits, vegetables, or whole grain oats instead?

Cholesterol could fall, insulin-sensitivity could rise, and intestines everywhere could be healthier with more fiber. What you eat every day has the power to change your health for the better, so great-tasting recipes are a “must have” because…

Taste Is King

Sure, anybody can go on a diet, or make a new-year’s resolution to eat more kale…for a while. But, eventually it becomes a contest of willpower. Do you want something healthy, OR something that tastes great? The only long-lasting solution is to get recipes that do both at once. Overnight oatmeal fits the bill at breakfast because there’s an almost unlimited number of flavor combinations you can create. But what if other foods could be made better for you?

Like Burgers?

Or drinks (that aren’t soda & diet soda)

Page 12: Over Night Oatmeal: How to Make Breakfast Healthy Tasty & Fun

You wouldn’t need freezer-box meals, mac n’ cheese, or fast food with the right recipes always ready to go. Save money, eat healthier and enjoy things like…

Cool cantaloupe soup, sweet-potato n’ cheese dip, spicy hearty chili, & lemon chicken quinoa soup. If you can use a mini-chopper or food processor these are easy recipes for main dishes and sides.

But…Do you want to scour the internet looking for better-for-you recipes, using up tons of time and possibly encountering duds? Or, would you rather get everything all at once?
