Recipe Authoring Example

Page 2: Ovenbot - recipe authoring interface example

For the purpose of this demonstration, Ovenbot has created a new Chef named ‘Ovenbot’. Chef Ovenbot is going to create a new recipe. In this case a personal version of Chicken Piccata.

What follows is a step-by-step demonstration of how Chefs enter new recipes and ingredients into the Ovenbot Data Model (ODM) using the Recipe Authoring Interface (RAI) tool.

At this point certain RAI tool features and forms are not being shown publicly due to proprietary content.

A typical recipe takes about 5 to 10 minutes to enter.

The blank master recipe creation form.

Chef Ovenbot would like to create a new Chicken Piccata recipe.

Step #1 is to check to see if there is an existing recipe for Chicken Piccata.

Page 4: Ovenbot - recipe authoring interface example

Chef Ovenbot types ‘piccata’ in the outermost search box.

Autosearch immediately finds the existing recipe. Two other Chefs (Steve Collins and Pavel Cupal) have already created their own personal versions of Chicken Piccata.

Chef Ovenbot clicks the down arrow in Recipe Chef form to add her name to the list. The list of available Chefs is auto-populated for easy selection

Chef Ovenbot is then prompted to either accept the existing recipe name as her own personal version name or rename it.

Chef Ovenbot accepts the existing version name.

Next step is to add ingredients.

Chef Ovenbot clicks the ‘Go To Ingredients’ button.

This is a new recipe so no Ingredients have been added to the list yet.

Chef Ovenbot clicks the ‘Add Ingredients For This Recipe’ button.

This is the ‘Add Ingredient For Recipe Version’ form.

Here there are 3 method choices for adding ingredients:

1. Using the form scroll and search functionality ingredients can be quickly located and selected.

2. The ‘Select From List of Previously Used Ingredients’ button.

3. The ‘Create/Update Ingredients’ button.

Because 2 previously entered versions of this recipe already exist, Chef Ovenbot clicks the ‘Select From List of Previously Used Ingredients’ button.

This ‘toggles’ the view between the list of all ingredients and a filtered list of ingredients entered by previous Chefs for this recipe.

Chef Ovenbot’s version of Chicken Piccata doesn’t use capers so she select all other ingredients.

Next Chef Ovenbot clicks the ‘Select From List of All Ingredients’ button to ‘toggle’ back to the list of all ingredients.

Chef Ovenbot selects bacon and artichoke as additional items from the master list of all ingredients.

This version of the recipe also calls for anchovies. Since anchovies aren’t in the ingredient master list, Chef Ovenbot clicks the ‘Create/Update Ingredients’ button.

This is the new ingredient creation form.

Chefs give new ingredients a unique Ingredient Description and then assign taxonomy, pantry, and dietary preference attributes.

All categorical assignments are done based on pre-populated select lists.

Chef Ovenbot types ‘Anchovies’ in the Ingredient Description field and then clicks the down arrow below Taxonomy Category.

Anchovies belong to the ‘Meat, Poultry, Eggs, & Game’ taxonomy category.

Chef Ovenbot completes the assignment of ingredient attributes and then closes this form.
