The best performing LSO at the 2nd National LSO Convention 2009 was the women's LSO Gindhar from District Mastung, Balochistan. They received a shield and a cash award of Rs. 1,000,000 donated by RSPN. LSO Gindhar was formed in 2008. It has a total membership of 109 women who have formed 38 women's CO and 7 VDOs. The LSO activities have included a 'Goat Bank', through which the poorest women are given goats in a 'share-rearing' programme; health “walks” throughout the UC and the provision of microcredit and vocational training for LSO members. The depth and breadth of the LSO activities is increasing rapidly and the LSO hopes to improve the standard of living of its poorest member women.
