Middle School Outdoor Education Program
Based upon the belief that skills developed and practiced in the outdoors transfer back to everyday life.
Students who participate in outdoor education programs deal directly with concepts such as:•Leadership and Followership•Inclusiveness•The value of working toward a common goal•Recognition of the unique attributes of each individual

Fact Sheet
• Both trips are scheduled Sep 15-17– Late start on Sep 18, 9AM
• 10:1 student to HIS teacher ratio, plus camp instructors• Transportation is provided to and from HIS via bus• Healthy and nutritious meals are provided, including
arrangements for those with dietary restrictions• Students participate in a variety of educational and
teambuilding activities• Participation is required as part of the MS curriculum and
educational program

Outdoor Ed Packets
• Specific to each trip - get the correct packet– Grades 5 & 6: Camp Hess Kramer– Grades 7 & 8: Catalina Island
• Each packet contains: general guidelines, letter from WOLF, camp specific information, contact information, packing list, permission forms, and medical forms
• All medical forms and permission forms must be completed and turned in to the Mr. Bezsylko no later than Sep 5, 2014

Communication While @ Camp
• You will receive an email confirming our arrival to camp, an email with news from day 2, and an email confirming our departure from camp
• In the event of an emergency, please call the main school number 702-818-2100
• Contact home can often aggravate potential homesickness, but students are allowed to call home in the evenings – a phone is provided for that purpose. Electronics such as cell phones are permitted on the bus ride but must be turned in to a staff member upon arrival to the facility.
