  • Our Vision A Community Transforming Lives

Our Values, Grace, Inclusion, Dignity, Faith and Hope.

Parramatta Mission acknowledges that all of our work and our 36 sites are on the land of traditional owners.

We pay respect to the traditional custodians of the land on which we gather, and acknowledge Elders past and present,

    and emerging leaders.

    OUR NEWS 11th November 2018

  • Leigh Congregation REMEMBRANCE DAY 2018: CENTENARY OF THE ARMISTICE This Remembrance Day, we gratefully acknowledge the sacrifice of over 100 of our members who served in the First World War and the 4 brave young men of the Leigh Memorial congregation who died serving our country so far away from home: Clive Wooster, James Tamsett, J. Morris Hunt and Stephen Booth. We also remember those who served in subsequent conflicts, those still serving, and the families of the fallen. We further acknowledge the devotion of women in our congregations – notably in the sphere of family support, nursing, community aid and fundraising. On this day, 100 years after the Armistice, we continue to pray for the embrace of God’s peace in our world and a cessation of hostilities, and for Christ’s love and compassion to infuse the decisions of world leaders and the conduct of nations and communities. Lest We Forget. A commemoration will take place during morning worship. Many thanks to Lucy for her organ voluntary.

SYMPATHIES Our congregation expresses its deepest sympathies to Nita, on the passing of her much-loved father in Calcutta – and to Rev. Manas, Naomi, Solon and their family and friends who are grieving at this time. The family have travelled to India for the funeral. • WESTMEAD Congregation WORSHIP Welcome back to Rev. Christine Bayliss Kelly after four weeks away. You have been greatly missed even though everyone has been so glad for you to have a well earned break away from your very busy schedule at Westmead. REMEMBERANCE DAY Today marks the 100th Anniversary of the Armistice which ended the first world war in (1914-1918). At 11a.m. along with people throughout the country, We Will Remember Them. ANGEL TREE Next Sunday, 18th November, will be the last day for donating to Angel Tree. $230 has been raised to date. Our goal is to raise $300 plus, to fund 10 gifts for 10 children, being Christmas gifts for children in families where a parent is an inmate in a correctional centre. The gifts and a hamper for the family will be delivered in time for Christmas. If you would like to support this important ministry, there are collection boxes near the back of the church and on the front desk. Please speak with Karen for further information. PLAY GROUPS Playgroup will be on two days from this week, Monday and Wednesday. Thank you for all who have helped out over this last month. NUTRITIOUS NOVEMBER. During November, Westmead Congregation will serve nutritious and tasty food for morning tea or afternoon tea, as we are ever mindful that there are many people among us who have health problems which require special thought about what they eat. We are sharing this responsibility by being mindful of the food we serve. Last Sunday was the first serving, and appeared to be most popular with all who came. Suggestions to serve are fruit, low GI foods, cheese and crackers, dips, popcorn, gluten free biscuits. If you would like to contribute something for morning tea you could follow these suggestions, or you may have more ideas. Your contribution will greatly assist congregation funds. ELECTION OF LEADERS In a couple of weeks’ time names will be put forward for the election of leaders for the coming year. Perhaps there is some way that you may be able to assist in the many tasks we are called to in the work of this congregation, or you may think of someone else in the congregation who you may nominate for these roles. Please pray for God’s guidance as we prepare for elections. CONGREGATION LEADERS MEETING Tuesday 13th November, 2018 at 2.30p.m. leaders will meet for monthly meeting.

  • Hi everyone, I have some feedback from a receiver of one of our dental vouchers below. This may offer some confidence in referring young people to this clinic for dental treatment in the future! Many of you will know that we have recently been working closely with Dr Zena from the Riverstone Family Dental Clinic who generously donated $1000 towards dental support for young people – which has almost entirely been used (we have just one voucher remaining to the value of $200). Steve Kisely published a 2016 article in the Canadian Journal of Psychiatry: “The poor physical health faced by people with mental illness has been the subject of growing attention, but the
