    ROY E. CLARK, Local Chairman.

    THE Y. M. C. A. WAR FUND

There have been very few day s to per fe ct our local organization. We want to reach everyone i n o r n ea r t he borough,bu t it is not unlikely that some few may'be o',rerlooked by thecanvassers, or perhaps not be at home when they call. I f suchshould be the case with you, may we ask that you leave yourcontribution with Postmaster Haws. We believe that everyresident of Narberth will assist g ladly in this work if thep lan can be exp la ined fully to them-it offers so many wonderful possibilities for doing 80 much for the boys who ar egoing out to fight our battloes and help make the world freefor democracy.

And it mus t not be forgothm that the Y. M. C. A. isworking in the camps of our allies as well a s w it h our ownforces. We ar e helping the French, the Belgians, th e Russians, the Rumanians. Mr. Braden, a Narberth resident, anda "Y" secretary, expects to sail soon fo r work in the I tal ianarmy. We are working, too, f or t he Germans in the Frenchand English prison camps-the Y. M. C. A. is non-sectarian.It helps every person it sees in need, regardless of c reed orna tionality.

It i s said that coal is $80.00 a ton in France and hard toge t at that. A part of the $35,000,000.00 will be used to buycoal that your boy may have a warm place to go on thes'e coldwin ter ni ght s. T he re is no fire in the billets and barrackswhere our troops abroad are now quartered.

When your boy goes away about t he l as t thing you sayto him is "Be sure and write." Where is he going t o wri tewhen he gets to camp? There i s no convenient place exceptthe "Y" hut. The Association supplies, gratis, one millionsheets of stationery a day, that the mothers and sisters andsweethearts of the soldier or sailor boy may hea r from him.

Don't confuse the Liberty Loan Campaign, the RedCross Campaign, and this work. In no way do they overlap. The Liberty Loan is a Government proposition-in no sensea charity-but a gilt-edge investment. The Y. M. C. A. looksafter your boys' spiritual and physical well-being-it helpsto keep him comfortable, contented and efficient. The RedCross is on hand to take care of h im when si ck or wounded.

Some Facts Regarding the Campaign in General andNarberth in Particular

No t one c en t of the money goes to the local Y. M. C. A.- a l l of it will be uti lized in looking after the moral welfareand physical comfort o f our boys who have gone ou t to fight.Mr. Edward K. Bok, o f Mer ion, i s State Chairman; Mr.Percival Roberts, J r. , o f Narberth, Cha irman for MontgomeryCounty. Nearly two score men in Narberth are canvassingthis borough. These men deserv e you r heartiest moral andfinancial ass is tance. They are doing this work in most in

stances at a considerable sacrifice to their personal affairs.

The United States is raising this week a fund of $35,000,000.00 to be used through the Y. M. C. A. organization fo rWar Work among our own soldi er s and sai lo rs and t ho se o four allies.

Few of us realize the scope of the work t he "Y " is already doing. Ask any boy you know who is now in anybranch of the Nation's Service what he thinks of the Y. M.C. A,'s place in c amp life. Ask him i f he bel ieves you shouldcontribute to this campa ign. Ask any army or navy officerwhether he regards the "Y" a s a practical and desirable factoramong the men under him.

Whenever a girl begins to l ec tUre ayoung man on financial e conomy hecan safely a sk h er to name th e happy day.
