Happy Feast of Pentecost!

On this feast day we can greet one another
with “Happy Birthday,” since Pentecost is
understood to be the birth of our Church.
The Holy Spirit descended on the Apostles
and they became empowered to follow
Jesus’ charge to ‘go, make disciples,
bap&ze and teach.’ (Mt 28) Although the
Apostles did not know what awaited them,
they had faith that God was doing some-
thing new and exci&ng among them.

We can think of our new parish this way
too. With the power of the Holy Spirit, our
faith community of six churches can look
forward to what awaits us as a NEW parish
family.

One step along the way is this common
bulle&n. This will contain news about our
grouping and about each of our 6 church-
es. But due to exis&ng publishing contracts
with St. Patrick and St. Columbkille, distri-
bu&on of a single bulle&n for all six is not
yet possible. Un&l those contracts expire,
our grouping will have three bulle&ns: this
one that will be distributed at Our Lady of
Lourdes, St. Michael, St. Ann and St. Al-
phonsus; one at St. Columbkille; and one at
St. Patrick. St. Patrick & St. Columbkille will
con&nue to publish separate bulle&ns un&l
those individual contracts expire.

Welcome to our New Bullen!

HOWEVER, much of the content will be
consistent among the three. Specifically,
the following will be in each bulle&n:
· Complete, weekly Mass schedules &
Mass inten&ons
· Informa&on about receiving Sacra-
ments of Bap&sm, Confession, Matrimony
· Each parish office loca&on & contact
informa&on
· Offertory repor&ng, Safe Environment
contacts
· Important Grouping news

And don’t forget, aside from paper copies,
each of the three bulle&ns will be posted
weekly at grouping329.org our parish web-
site. In fact, the online versions of bulle&ns
oBen appear ahead of the weekend, so
you can read the latest about our new par-
ish in advance.

This new, common bulle&n is another step
in the process of uni&ng and strengthening
us as a new parish family. It will be a “work
inprogress” for several weeks, so thank
you in advance for your pa&ence as we
transi&on. May God con&nue to bless our
coming together as a NEW parish family.
We have much to look forward to, and God
is leading us every step of the way!

Sr. Mary Gianna is a member of the Disciples of the Lord
Jesus Christ religious community. Growing up without any
faith, she had a life-transforming conversion after surviv-
ing the shootings at Columbine High School in Littleton,
CO. She became Catholic at Franciscan University at age
19 & later experienced a great outpouring of God's love
that radically changed her & led her to religious life.
Come to hear Sister’s story of love, conversion & hope!

Receive the Holy SpiritABer his resurrec&on from the dead Je-
sus appears to his anxious Apostles and, knowing their fear and
uncertainty, pours forth the Holy Spirit upon them and bestows
his giB of peace. For the next forty days he promises that he will
be with them always and that he will send the Advocate to be
with them as they will be called to con&nue his work in the
world. Finally, aBer ascending to heaven, Jesus sends forth his
Spirit at Pentecost to fill the Apostles with confidence and cour-
age in order to go out to all the world to tell the good news and
grow the Church. As the On Mission for The Church Alive! ini&a&ve con&nues to unfold we
are called to prayer for a new Pentecost in the Church of PiMsburgh. This new outpouring of
the Holy Spirit can bestow the peace we seek in the midst of change and planning for the
future. God’s Spirit can also fill us with the confidence and courage that all of usclergy
and faithful alike will need to do our part to build up the Church and make it ever more
alive! Visit onmissionchurchalive.org to learn more and to stay informed.
