Our Parish Mission & Vision St. Martin de Porres is a Stewardship and Hospitality parish. As Catholic Christians guided by the Holy Spirit, we are Christ’s disciples dedicated to faith formation, worship, community life, and service. All are welcome as we use our unique gifts to serve the world as a visible sign of God’s love.

“In a world where there is so much noise, so much bewilderment, there is a need for silent adoration of Jesus concealed in the Host. Be assiduous in the prayer of adoration and teach it to the faithful. It is a source of comfort and light, particularly to those who are suffering.”—Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI

A child came crying into the room where his grandfather was
studying the Torah. The grandfather sought to console
him and asked why he was crying. ‘My friends and I were playing hide and seek and I hid so well
that they gave up and went home. Awe, my child, that is also the
way it is with God. God is always there but he is hidden. He asks
that we seek and find him hidden in the world. And the tragedy is that we have stopped looking for
him, and so he weeps. ~ An Old Rabbinic Tale
August is here already! Enjoy the last few weeks of summer with your families. Take a few minutes to plan for Fall Classes before it’s too late.

Michael Fitzpatrick, St. Martin Seminarian speaks on Prayer Monday August 6 at 6:00 pm JMJ Catholic Store, Placentia
Have you ever wondered how a seminarian prays? Do you have questions about prayer? Come on Monday, August 6 to the JMJ Catholic Store, 310 Orangethorpe Ave., Ste. A in Placentia to listen to Michael speak on “Prayer.” Currently,
Michael studies theology at the Pontifical North American College in Rome in hopes to be ordained to the priesthood in 3 years. He was raised in Orange County, in a faith-filled Catholic family. After graduating from St. Francis of Assisi School and Servite High School, he earned BA in Education from Cal State Fullerton. Michael tutored, led retreats, taught Confirmation, and was Counselor/Director of UITS Summer Camp for about 5 years. Having discerned a vocation to the priesthood, Michael entered St. John’s Seminary in 2014. In 2016, Bishop Vann sent him to the Pontifical North American College in Rome where he will continue his theology studies this Fall.
Stewardship Sunday is this Weekend Please bring your donations that weekend. Thank you for your generosity.
Service and Outreach
Community Life What is Small Christian Communities (SCC)?
It is a ministry in our parish, made up of over 250 parishioners, who have a desire to understand more about our faith, how it affects our daily life, and all aspects of Christian Community
Life. We meet to break open the readings of the upcoming Sunday, and prepare ourselves to embrace
them at mass. We meet in groups of 10 -12 people, in one's home, weekly
or every other week. Meetings, including social time, last about
2 hours. Friendships develop that last a lifetime. If our Lord is calling you to spread your wings and move closer to him, consider SCC your path to
achieving this goal. For more information contact Mark and Kris
Jablonski, 714-524-9757 or [email protected]
