HASI Plus

HASI Plus provides 24-hour supported accommodation, to support consumers

who have been released from long-term institutional care, such as a correctional

institute, mental health hospital, or forensic facility to transition back into the

community. There are 16 self-contained units, and a 4-bed house, as well as

shared communal areas. A clinic room is available on site so that consumers are

able to access necessary treatments. A program of activities and events are

provided for consumers, to improve their socialisation skills.

The Step Down Program assists consumers being discharged from psychiatric

hospitals to successfully transition back into their homes and the community.

Support is provided on a short term basis, and is tiered in nature. Intensive

support is provided to consumers directly following discharge, with a gradual

reduction in support hours over a six week period, as the client readjusts to their

new environment.

UCMH delivers a wide range of mental health services to clients across a

number of geographical regions. The services within UCMH include:

NATIONAL DAY OF ACTION AGAINST BULLYING & VIOLENCE

Many children and adults endure bullying every day - and it's not just confined to school playgrounds. Bullying (physical and/or emotional - or via exclusion) can also occur at home, in workplaces, social and sporting groups - and sometimes even within congregations. Let's support those who are being bullied & encourage everyone to say a big "no way" to bullying!

Kathryn Realf (former Family & Carer Education Officer UCMH) dropped in to say hello on her recent visit from the UK. Kathryn is now working at a Diabetes Organisation in the UK. Tracey and Coral were super happy to catch up.

Our guest: Rev Terry Moe, a Lutheran Pastor and Community Organiser with the Industrial Areas Foundation North-West USA will be sometimes our leader and sometimes our conversation partner. Terry has worked to revitalise, renew and transform congregations and groups of congregations in and around Portland for some years. He brings wisdom and practical tools that deliver effective congregations and zones. You are invited to be part of this unique opportunity. The church of the 21st century is confronting immense changes in the world around us. There are many challenges AND opportunities for the church at this time but we need courage, faith, wisdom – and some tools and new models. We are bringing together congregational leaders, emerging young leaders and the regional leadership of UCA to work together with Terry to reflect on where we are at, the questions we bring and to learn new skills for revitalising our mission. Fijian Congregation Last weekend, we attended Kids Camp Out in Wedderburn. The theme was Super Impossible Promises, about things being possible through God, and the promises He makes to His people. The kids enjoyed worship, outdoor activities, group study and sports! There was also an opportunity for Connect and Shake members to do leadership training. The kids represented well and I was really proud of their participation and leadership! They even did a very short notice Action Song to about 170 people! Special thanks to ALL helpers, it’s not possible without you! Lisa Kamotu—Sunday School Lead
