OPENING WORSHIP (Please stand if able) I SING THE MIGHTY POWER OF GOD

I sing the mighty pow'r of God that made the mountains rise, That spread the flowing seas abroad and built the lofty skies. I sing the wisdom that ordained the sun to rule the day; The moon shines full at his command, and all the stars obey. I sing the goodness of the Lord that filled the earth with food. He formed the creatures with his Word and then pronounced them good. Lord, how thy wonders are displayed where'er I turn my eye! If I survey the ground I tread, or gaze upon the sky. There's not a plant or flow'r below but makes thy glories known, And clouds arise and tempests blow by order from thy throne, While all that borrows life from Thee is ever in thy care And everywhere that we can be, Thou, God, art present there.

THE ACCLAMATION

Celebrant Blessed be God: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. People And blessed be his Kingdom, now and for ever. Amen.

THE COLLECT FOR PURITY All Almighty God, to You all hearts are open, all desires known, and from You no secrets are hid. Cleanse the thoughts of our hearts by the inspiration of your Holy Spirit, that we may perfectly love You, and worthily magnify your holy Name; through Christ our Lord. Amen.

THE GLORIA (Sung)

Glory to God in the highest and peace to his people on earth. Lord God, heavenly King, Almighty God and Father, We worship You, we give You thanks, we praise You for your glory, glory to God! Lord Jesus Christ, only Son of the Father, Lord God, Lamb of God, You take away the sin of the world; have mercy on us. You are seated at the right hand of the Father; receive our prayer, receive our prayer.

For You alone are the Holy One, You alone are the Lord, You alone are the Most High; Jesus Christ, with the Holy Spirit, in the glory of God the Father, In the glory of God the Father, Amen, Amen.

4

THE COLLECT OF THE DAY

Celebrant The Lord be with you. People And with your spirit.

Celebrant Let us Pray. Let your continual grace, O Lord, fall upon us that we may have the courage to choose to follow you; through Jesus Christ our Lord who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.

THE FIRST LESSON (The people sit) JOSHUA 24: 1-25

Reader The Word of the Lord. People Thanks be to God.

PSALM 16 (Please stand if able)

Preserve me, O God, for in you I take refuge. I say to the Lord, “You are my Lord; I have no good apart from you.” As for the saints in the land, they are the excellent ones, in whom is all my delight. The sorrows of those who run after another god shall multiply; their drink offerings of blood I will not pour out or take their names on my lips. The Lord is my chosen portion and my cup; you hold my lot. The lines have fallen for me in pleasant places; indeed, I have a beautiful inheritance. I bless the Lord who gives me counsel; in the night also my heart instructs me. I have set the Lord always before me; because he is at my right hand, I shall not be shaken.

5

Therefore my heart is glad, and my whole being rejoices; my flesh also dwells secure. For you will not abandon my soul to Sheol, or let your holy one see corruption. You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore. Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now, and will be forever. Amen.

THE GRADUAL (Please stand if able) ALLELUIA

6

THE GOSPEL (Please stand if able) Celebrant The Holy Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ according to St. John. People Glory to You, Lord Christ. JOHN 6:60-69

Celebrant The Gospel of the Lord. People Praise to You, Lord Christ.

THE SERMON: (The Rev.) Allen Kannapell THE NICENE CREED (Please stand)

We believe in one God, the Father, the Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, of all that is, visible and invisible.

We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only-begotten Son of God, eternally begotten of the Father, God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, of one Being with the Father; through Him all things were made. For us and for our salvation He came down from heaven, was incarnate from the Holy Spirit and the Virgin Mary, and was made man. For our sake He was crucified under Pontius Pilate; He suffered death and was buried. On the third day He rose again in accordance with the Scriptures; He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, and his Kingdom will have no end.

We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son, who with the Father and the Son is worshiped and glorified, who has spoken through the prophets. We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic Church. We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins. We look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come. Amen.

Daily walking close to Thee, let it be, dear Lord, let it be. Through this world of toils and snares, if I falter, Lord, who cares? Who with me my burden shares?
